You can authorize the computer through itunes, the problem is authorizing the
stream.

Once you have the Victor authorized for audible content, you will simply be

be a simple cut and paste from finder. the problem is authorizing the
stream to play the audible content. this, it appears can only be done from
windows, because, Itunes doesn't support the stream as a device.

So, if you can get the stream authorized for audible, you should be good to
go. I hope this helps, right now, the authorization is a problem for me as
well. I had it originally, but, somehow I lost the authorization on the
stream. I guess I will have to use my wife's PC to get it authorized again.

Re: Audible books, can I listen to them/transfer them?

2010-06-15 Thread Ana G
Of course, you can listen to Audible content on the Mac in iTunes, on your
iPod, and most likely on your iPhone, etc. I can't swear on a stack of
bibles, but I'm pretty sure all Apple devices are Audible ready. You can
always subscribe to audible, listen on your Apple product, and when you find
a friend with Windows, activate your Stream.

I think it's a good idea for us to contact Humanware and Audible to ask how
to activate the Stream using a Mac. We all know it can't be done yet, but
both companies are more likely to put a wiggle in it if they get lots of
inquiries, rather than one or two. I've been an Audible subscriber for about
six years. My experience has been that audible tends to respond sooner
rather than later. If they notice lots of inquiries about something, they
start tracking the number of inquiries on the subject and are more likely to
respond if the numbers are up.

I am not a audible subscriber. Can you burn the audible to a CD disk?
If you can then rip the CD to mp3. Just a thought.

2010-06-13 Thread Olivia Norman
I'm kind of wondering the same thing. I've got an iPad, and am just wondering
if the stream's worth the investment. I'm concerned about it's lack of
compatibility with macs, for things like authorizing audible. So, what can the
stream do taht an iPad or iPod can't besides playing daisy books?

I hate to say this, and it is only my opinion, but I got a chance to use and
play with a VRstream back in November of this last year. While it offers
easy accessibility for Blind users, I too found I was concerned about full
compatibility to my Macbook Pro. I thought about what the device can do, and
think that, again, an Ipod touch could do just as much, if not more. That
was even before eBooks were available for it. YMMV, and now, btw I'm
 actually thinking about the iPad.
