I’m going to jump in and offer a piece of prudent advice. I consider myself a
fairly knowledgeable computer user. However, when it comes to entering
financial transactions online, I would much prefer to have a sighted person
assist or review what I am attempting to do before hitting the submit button.
Never assume that the screen reader is showing you all the pertinent

Re: Problem with paying paypal credit

2014-12-19 Thread Cheryl Homiak
Your advice is appreciated but if i did that (1) a sighted person would know
business I don't need him/her to know and I might as well just go back to
having a reader go through my mail and do my checks; and (2) I would never get
things done because I usually don't have a sighted person around. I have been
doing my own transactions online without the confirmation of a sighted person
for over ten years - in fact, I do almost all my financial transactions that
way - and have never made a mistake doing it. In fact, my screen reader has
indeed been up to the task as long as I checked everything carefully, be it a
Windows, linux or Mac screenreader. However, I do understand that mistakes can
be made and information may not show up correctly in some instances and I don't
blame or belittle people who wish to use such precautions. However, for me, to
do transactions online would be totally pointless if I had to have a sighted
person okay my decisions for me. Sorry, I know this does sound impatient with
your view; it's not that I don't respect it; I just know that for me it would
put an end to my use of online systems if I followed this advice. But I commend
those who can do this and feel they need to do so for their caution and wisdom
and patience in waiting for sighted help to do these things; if you have doubts
as to your ability or feel you need more practice first or for some reason
don't trust your screenreader or a particular sight, this is indeed a good
idea. But I will have to say that I do not think this is a risky thing for a
blind person with experience to do in most cases.

Later site worked fine but shortly after the switch of course that site was

my payment method no matter what I do on the Mac. I very definitely clicked
the feedback button and told them to put back the radio buttons as
standard instead of these clickable things - at least that's how they
look for voiceover. They still have radio buttons for other choices but not
for the payment method. I have changed my mouse pointer settings, tried
different voiceover options from vo utility for the web; this is driving me
nuts! Any suggestions? I can't get the mouse to line up with it; I can't
get keyboard focus on it; I can get vo focus and I can flick to it on the
trackpad but nothing with mouse either via cmd-vo-f5 and vo-f5 or by the
actual Apple mouse which admittedly I'm not very good with. Tabbing passes
it up. Absolutely nothing allows me to click my payment option. When I
click continue I am told that I don't have enough balance in my paypal
account (which of course I don't!) and am asked to choose a payment option
 - as if that isn't what I've been trying to do! I rarely get this
exasperated trying to do something on my computer but this is ridiculous!

PayPal website, is generally very very bad.

I hate everything about it now these days. So, yes, give them an earful.

Kawal.

Re: Problem with paying paypal credit

2014-12-18 Thread Cheryl Homiak
Thank you. I finally got it paid with the paypal app but it wasn't really
better. what I finally had to do was first click the link that said something
like How do you want to pay? Then clicking the payment method I wanted
apparently worked. But I'll keep the phone number handy!
