Hi there It takes forever. In my case I got told first that I was going to be notified later when it was available. I came back sometime later and it downloaded but it took a long time. Bear in mind that this is release day, and the download is a couple of GB, give or take. I downloaded all the images for all the devices (49 GB) in advance precisely to avoid this. For some reason, Apple never has sufficient capacity on launch day. It's not helped by the fact that you need to contact Apple to verify signatures even if you have the software images.
