Re: Spell Check Just Stops Working in Pages

2013-03-31 Thread Brian Fischler
Yes, didn't know about the command semicolon command. It ends up that
is a keyboard shortcut and not a specific voiceover command. I think
command semicolon will just go to the next mispelled word while
command shift semicolon seems to bring up a list of suggested words
and the learn spelling and etc menu commands.

As far as the Apple Accessibility phone number, I think it is great
that Apple has this, but the execution is awful. The people operating
it are not voiceover experts or even very knowledgable about
voiceover. I have been on a call with them and it took us 20 minutes
to figure out why they weren't getting the same options as me, only to
realize the person at Apple Accessibility wasn't using voiceover and
didn't even know how to turn it on. I have had at least 3
conversations with them where I have had to say to them are you using
voiceover, only to have them tell me no. I know it is not a purely
dedicated voiceover hotline, but come on at least make sure the people
working there have a basic understanding of voiceover and know how to
turn it on.

Re: Spell Check Just Stops Working in Pages

2013-03-27 Thread Brian Fischler
Just figured I would let the list know I called Apple Accessibility,
and although they couldn't figure out why my way of spell checking
wasn't working, they did suggest the command semicolon way of spell
checking a document. Of course, the funniest part about calling the
accessibility line is the customer service reps try walking you
through things while they themselves are not using voiceover, so it
kinds of defeats the purpose, but after explaining to them how to use
voiceover, we were able to figure out how to navigate the spell
checking menus using command shift semicolon and then VO and the
arrows to navigate the menus. Hope this helps someone else if they
have the problem I ran into.

Hello Brian,

I always spell check in Pages using Cmd-semicolon, correcting each error as I
go. I've always found this to be the most convenient for me.

Cheers,

is there a difference between CMD semicolon and CMD shift semicolon for spell

Hello,

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but, command semi colon brings up just the next
misspelled word. Command shift semi colon checks the entire document.

As a side comment to Brian's note about calling Apple Accessibility, and its

the U.S. at any rate, takes you to accessibility support:
1-877-204-3930.
