Re: dictation question
Hi All. Referring to a iMac27, localized in italian, with Mavericks. I've never been succesful with dictation. I tried both advanced (used offline also) and normal (where you must be connected to the net), the second one gives me some better results but it is absolutely failing compared to the dictation on iOS. Anyone else got my some experience? Any tips and tricks to get it better? Gabriel. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups MacVisionaries group. I always press the function key once to stop dictation. It occasionally happens to me that the text does not appear. This used to happen to me more before Mavericks. Re: dictation question
Hi again I'm not sure, but if that happened to me, and I wanted to use dictation, I would consider restarting my computer. Have you tried that? Re: dictation question
Unless you've changed something in the settings, you have to let go of the function key after you're finished speaking, then the text you've spoken should show up. Re: dictation question
Are you running Mavericks? If you are did you enable enhanced dictation? This will give you unlimited dictation and allow you to dictate when you are off-line. Re: dictation question
I can press function twice, release it, speak, and press it once to dictate. I don't believe you need to hold it down by default, and I can't think of a setting to change that. When this was happening to me, it turned out I had selected the wrong microphone. Go to System Preferences, Dictation and speech, Dictation tab, and ensure the input is set to the microphone you are using (internal by default).
