Jessica, I'm along - time user of motion X GPS Drive. I really like this
app. In summary, I trust it. It's never failed me yet. Now, when you
initially purchased it, it will cost you around one dollar. After that,
for the voice guidance, you need to subscribe annually. It costs either
nine or $10, depending on whether you want automatic subscription updates
or not. I prefer the manual route, since I can control the updates. After
all, there may be one that is in excess will. That hasn't happened yet.
Make sure you get the app called motion X GPS Drive. There is another one
called motion GPS and that is not accessible. I do like BlindSquare in
combination with Google maps, but I find motion X to be my favorite
commercial GPS application. One thing I like about it is you can insert
stops along your route. I did this recently when our son needed to be
picked up at the train station. We were going to someone's house for
dinner, but we pick up our son first and I was able to insert this into
the route before going on to the individuals home. That's a really nice
feature. Anyway, I think you will like the app, but if you have more
questions feel free to ask. Getting to the menu can be a little tricky,
but I learned it is at the bottom right of the screen. Once activating
the menu, you can choose all the relevant options and they work fine.
  Good luck.

I do that, but that can be a huge inconvenience after a while, considering the

Re: motionXgps drive.

2014-06-26 Thread Littlefield, Tyler
I'm not a huge fan of paying extra for an accessibility feature, but I
find myself in total agreement with Chuck otherwise.

I am a software developer and am looking at releaseing a project into
the market pretty soon. I want to keep my costs low and reasonable so
that customers can afford it. However, I like everyone else has to make
a living. I get to make it doing what I love, but I see no reason why
-everything- should be free. If you like products (from anyone), pay if
they're offering. If not, don't use them. It goes back to the grocery
store analogy Chuck already used.

I'm okay with paying ones, not for extra features. What I mean is, paying for
something and then paying again using in app purchase. Especially if it's an
auto renewing subscription. I'm not a huge fan of those.

Re: motionXgps drive.

2014-06-26 Thread Les Kriegler
Jessica, I'm along – time user of motion X GPS Drive. I really like this app.
In summary, I trust it. It's never failed me yet. Now, when you initially
purchased it, it will cost you around one dollar. After that, for the voice
guidance, you need to subscribe annually. It costs either nine or $10,
depending on whether you want automatic subscription updates or not. I prefer
the manual route, since I can control the updates. After all, there may be one
that is in excess will. That hasn't happened yet. Make sure you get the app
called motion X GPS Drive. There is another one called motion GPS and that is
not accessible. I do like BlindSquare in combination with Google maps, but I
find motion X to be my favorite commercial GPS application. One thing I like
about it is you can insert stops along your route. I did this recently when our
son needed to be picked up at the train station. We were going to someone's
house for dinner, but we pick up our son first and I was able to insert this
into the route before going on to the individuals home. That's a really nice
feature. Anyway, I think you will like the app, but if you have more questions
feel free to ask. Getting to the menu can be a little tricky, but I learned it
is at the bottom right of the screen. Once activating the menu, you can choose
all the relevant options and they work fine. Good luck.

Re: motionXgps drive.

That sounds cool, I think I need a memory refresher on what blindsquare does as
opposed to your typical gps software, sense I unfortunately can't afford to buy
both, and think $30 is a little steep. Everything you just mentioned sounds
great though, considering the fact that I've tried various gps apps, and
unfortunately haven't been completly satisfied with any of them, and thankfully
was given an Itunes giftcard for my birthday, so can afford to buy it now.

RE: motionXgps drive.

2014-06-26 Thread Eileen Misrahi
I'm sure we will get different opinions on different GPS apps. I started a
long time ago with Navigon and even when I acquired other GPS apps to try, I
always went back to Navigon. I still do have Motion GPS X on my iPhone, but
it's out dated and I would have to pay for it again to have the voice
guidance. What's nice about Navigon is that I can choose the states that I
need to have on the phone and not have to install the entire huge file. This
will save memory space on the phone if one is limited. With TomTom, that's
not an option, although I have TomTom Western Europe. I only install it when
I am traveling overseas. Each GPS application will have their strengths and
weaknesses, so the features that are important to you are what you need to
look for in the app. HTH.

2014-06-26 Thread Jessica D
How were you ever able to afford it? That is a really expensive application.
What does it do that you like that no other GPS application can do?

HTH.

Actually, that one is my favorite main stream GPS app, there are other paid
ones too, such as navigon, Garmin and TomTom Original message:
I don't like the motion X GPS Drive application. We will have to pay
for it. Plus you have to pay for voice guidance. That just doesn't
 seem right to me.

I do that, but that can be a huge inconvenience after a while,
considering the fact that I have a lot of them in my recents list,
some of them I don't even use anymore, and I don't see an option to
delete those indevidually, so at the moment I have a love/hate
 relationship with it.

If you click on a string of characters, you will see an address.
This will tell you what address you are looking at.

Sense scout maps has just about become unusable, and I've heard a
lot of good things about motionX gps, I wanted to get some feedback
from other people on this list who may have used it. I looked at
on applevis, but the info/reviews seem to be outdated sense there
seem to be several updates to it sense those were posted, but from
the reviews I read, everybody seemed to have nothing but good
things to say about, and I love the fact that it reads street
names, something scout does, but it refuses to read POI's anymore,
and just reads them as this huge string of characters that doesn't mean
 anything.
