RE: Remoting into a Crome book via the Mac.

2020-05-08 Thread Simon A Fogarty
Hi Jessica,

Yeah difficult one.

I’d contact the teacher and get a list of what is meant to be getting worked on
and if they can provide access to the same services that your daughter is using
and that way you can see what work is there and question her on what she is
working on so that you know what the work load is and type of work as well.

Good luck.

That’s something I unfortunately can’t afford to invest in right now, and
something needs to be. Done soon sense Hannah’s grades are really low, and she
has a tendency to lie and say she’s. Doing her work, and sense not all lessons
are live, and therefore not auditory, I need to know exactly what’s on her
screen VS what she claims to be doing.

Hi,

You might wish to look at Chrome Remote Desktop. It’s an extension you can use
with Chrome that may work for you. I’m not sure of how well things will work
from an observation point of view, as most “remote-in” solutions are not
particularly screen reader friendly with respect to reading the others screen
contents.

Waw,

I'm not sure how you could do this without the kids knowing they are being
watched over,

I'm bloody glad in times like this I don't have kids,
I can only imagine how you guys are feeling about this.

I do know that in teams if you are a chat room owner then you have admin rights
and I believe that would let you see what is going on in the room / team

Good luck and hope the kids start behaving.

I am having the exact same problem! I'd love to find an accessible solution
that doesn't involve taking away my boy's laptop, turning on the screen reader,
checking what he's doing, and giving it back to him. He says he's doing work,
which he seems to be when I check most of the time, but, I get weekly messages
from his teacher saying that he's not submitting as much work as he should be.
It's really frustrating.

When it comes to either/or, wouldn’t that need to be set up on her Crome Book
as well? If so, I’ll need some pointers for that, sense I’ve never used a crome

Ok, I’ll gladly check that out. It sounds like it. Might be exactly what I’m
looking for, sense I’ve used both From and Safari, and I could have that
running on Crome while I do my work on Safari, even if I have to have Aira help

Hi,

You might wish to look at Chrome Remote Desktop. It’s an extension you can use
with Chrome that may work for you. I’m not sure of how well things will work
from an observation point of view, as most “remote-in” solutions are not
particularly screen reader friendly with respect to reading the others screen
contents.

You might have more luck turning on monitoring of resources on the Network
side. Also, do you own the Chrome Book or is it the schools. If it is the
schools, then they could set up controls. I don't believe that individual
ChromeBooks can be controlled unless you get a MDM type solution though Simon
would probably know more about that.

Re: Remoting into a Crome book via the Mac.

2020-05-06 Thread Jessica Moss
That’s been the same thing here, and we had to have a meeting with her home
room teacher, and it was really unpleasant to hear that most of her grades were
F’s, and one subject was as low as 1%. If she’s watching one of the videos
that gets uploaded regularly, I can just walk back into the dining room and
listen to make sure she’s not watching a YouTube video, which she’s not
thrilled about, but oh well. So right now, I have to constantly ask her
what she’s doing and relay it back to her teacher via class Dojo, which as far
as messages are concerned, is working well for me at the moment, but any files
that get uploaded I always miss, because it and VoiceOver don’t play nice in
the sandbox, so all I can do is know who posted it.

2020-05-06 Thread Cameron Strife
I am having the exact same problem! I'd love to find an accessible
solution that doesn't involve taking away my boy's laptop, turning on
the screen reader, checking what he's doing, and giving it back to
him. He says he's doing work, which he seems to be when I check most
of the time, but, I get weekly messages from his teacher saying that
he's not submitting as much work as he should be. It's really
frustrating.

Remoting into a Crome book via the Mac.

2020-05-06 Thread Jessica Moss
I never thought I’d be needing to do this, however, I’ve been getting messages
from Hannah’s teacher stating that she’s not turning in work/checking in on
Microsoft Teams. I’ve finally just made her. Come out of. Her room to do her
work, but would like to know how I can view exactly what’s up on her. Screen,
and know that she’s not just sitting their listening to music with her
headphones on, and unfortunately, constantly hovering over her to make sure
she’s doing it isn’t always going to be an option, for multiple reasons, one of
them being, that not all of her lessons are auditory. Has anyone ever done
this, and if so, what’s involved in getting it set up?
