Try command-e. This might work.

Re: Shutting Down with Lion

2012-03-12 Thread Matthew Campbell
Hi.
If you've got a Mac laptop, you could always just hit the power button. This
will bring up a dialogue that'll let you sleep, restart, and shut down. Log off
might be there too.
One other thing that is there is an option to disable the restoration of
windows when you log back in.
HTH.

Shutting Down with Lion

2012-03-12 Thread Emilio Hernandez
Hello folks,

I have installed Lion (I know a little late, but its running well).
I have been able to make most of my modifications by searching on the
Internet, but one that is somewhat bothersome is shutting down Lion.
Under Snow Leopard I would shutdown by accessing the menu bar, then arrowing
down to shutdown, then arrowing over to the shutdown feature. In Lion I cannot
do this. I've looked in system preferences and have had not luck finding
something that will let me revert to the native method of shutting down. An
archive search and Internet search did not help. Can anyone provide me a
solution or is this something where I must wait for the minute before the
machine shuts down?

P.S I am not a fan of cmd/option/ctrl/eject method :)

Re: shutting down with lion

2011-10-12 Thread Paul Erkens
Hi Craig,
Yes all apps must be closed before you can shut down. I had a similar issue
that was nagging me, and the solution was to use the voiceover application
chooser, to find out what was running. I discovered that a program was still
running, that I was not aware of. Moreover, this program had a window on screen
asking me to type my password, because the program wanted to make changes. I
don't know which changes, so every time it happens I hit cancel and I don't
provide my password for it. But when I want to shut down, this window asking me
to confirm changes to be made, is sometimes still open, and using the vo app
chooser, you can find out if something similar on your machine is the case,
close it, and shut down again.
Hth,
Paul.
