RE: Skype help needed

2013-02-03 Thread Bill Holton
Thanks. Problem turned out to be with Audio Hijack Pro. I had bought a
license today and plugged in the code. After that as long as it was running
it was taking the audio from Skype and noa allowing it to come through to
me. I restarted the Mini, and now all is working fine. Only problem is
now, the skype.mp3 files won't play in iTunes, I have to move them into my
dropbox and onto my Win machine to play them.

Ah, you need to set not only the output to use the headset, the input must
also be set that way also.

Hi.
Had Skype working fine yesterday on my Mac Mini with a desk mike and my
speakers.
Today I tried adding a usb headset, and everything went downhill.
I have Skype set to use the usb headset in the call speakers pop up box, and
the volume is set to 75%. I have ringers set to use all devices.
Now, when I make the Skype test call, I hear the begin call blurp in the
headset, but then it's silence everywhere, no ringing, no voice, until the
call ends and I get the call end sound. If I try to now put the speaker
back to the Mini's external speakers, again silence.
Any help with what I may have done wrong greatly appreciated.

Re: Skype help needed

2013-02-03 Thread Rachel Feinberg
Hi Bill,

If possible, with the USB headset plugged in, go to system preferences, to the
sound category. Change the sfx tab, input, and output tabs, to all use your
headset as the default device.
that may help,
