RE: Training new mac user, any tips and tricks?
Chris, Treat it like a game Setup some files in different locations where the files give instructions such as pointing to other locaitons etc That will help give her an idea of how to navigate around the machine and use things like finder etc. Hope that helps. -Original Message- From: macvisionaries@googlegroups.com [mailto:macvisionaries@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Scott Granados Sent: Tuesday, 1 November 2016 10:27 AM To: macvisionaries@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: Training new mac user, any tips and tricks? I don’t have a specific starting point but i do have a general over all suggestion. If she is a windows user I find at least that total emersion is the only way to go. Look at learning a new computer like learning a new language. It’s very difficult to continue using one OS while trying to learn another so the best thing I an suggest is to totally drop the windows device and struggle through up front. Each day things become easier and you can relearn things like muscle memory for the different keyboard commands so you are working more rapidly and directly with the new environment instead of jumping from one to the other and back again. It’s really a very similar thing to learning a new language where you are best going to that place and dropping your self in the middle. If you want to learn French for example go to France and submerge your self in all French speakers instead of going to French class and then going back home where you speak English. Same with learning any new technology. After you get the hang of the new environment and it becomes second nature you can bring back in the old and be proficient at both. Just an over all suggestion. Training new mac user, any tips and tricks?
Evening everyone. So it's 30 days before my girlfriend will receive her first ever mac as a Christmas present. Better early than never this time round. You will see why below. Once her early 2015 13 inch Macbook Pro has been updated to macOS Sierra 10.12.1 and has been configured to her liking, I plan to do one-to-one training while she has her mac at my place, at no additional charge of course. Any tips and tricks on where to start? See I've never shown someone else how to use a mac, since I self taught myself when I got my first ever mac, this late 2011 13 inch Macbook Pro that I am writing this email on now. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Cheers! -- The following information is important for all members of the Mac Visionaries list.
