Ok, a simplified VMWare Question

2017-02-18 Thread Sharon Hooley
Hi again,

Well, I hope this is my last question on this topic. I’m having a hard time
finding the old podcast by Mike Arigo about using VMWare. I’ve searched on
Mystic Access and Cool Blind Tech, as well as Google, and so far I haven’t
noticed it. Is there a direct link I can use? So my million-dollar question
is: Since cmd+g is not listed in the key routing menu in VMWare Fusion 8.5,
how do I get to the mapping area, with Mac Book Air, El Capitan, with
voiceover, and are there special instructions I should follow? By the way, I
followed some other instructions for routing my capslock key to become an
insert key for the screen readers modifier key, using Carabiner and Seil, so
I’m wondering if they could be used to make the toggle work?

Thanks again,

Hi all. It’s good to be back on the list, and I hope everyone is doing well.

I’ve recently installed VMWare Fusion, the recent, if not most up-to-date
version, 8.5.3…. I'm using Mac OS Sierra on a mac book air. How does one go
about installing Windows 10 using an image? I would prefer to use a flash

I think this is default behavior or it's been so long that I forgot that I had
turned it on in some preference. Anyway, it's certainly possible to copy/paste
text from VMWare Fusion to a mac app. You just do control-c for copy in Windows
and command-v for paste on the mac unless you have vmware set up to use
command-c as well. Is it not working for you?

Re: Quick VMware question

2012-03-12 Thread Kawal Gucukoglu
Are you checking the boxes as you can clear what is set and do your own
mapping. I think I have an e-mail saved which may give more detailed
instructions. If so I will e-mail to the list. Also if you want an instert key
and you create one, you will have to go in to jaws setting centre and search
for insert key mode and make sure it is checked so that when you do let's say
command J, it will do the insert for you so you can type B and the dialogue box
will be read if you did set an insert key in Vmware preferences.

RE: Quick VMware question

2012-03-11 Thread Bill Holton
Hi.

Thanks for the help. I must be missing something though. Currently I am
using a PC keyboard on my Mac, and I used the Mac's keyboard layout to swap
the two keys on my PC keyboard so that the alt key is the Mac command key
and the PC Windows key is the Mac's Option Key. I can't seem to find the
right combinations to change these back to their proper PC usage during a VM
ware session so that what is now the Mac's Option key becomes the Windows
Key and what is now the Mac's command key turns into the Alt Key. No matter
how I try to remap them I keep coming back with the PC's alt key calling up
the Windows Menu and the Windows Key F combination calling up the file menu.

I have tried remapping several ways, and also restarted the VM machine after
resetting. Any further help would be greatly appreciated.

I wouldn't advise Voice Over and your virtual machine screen reader
running at the same time as your Mac might struggle. Also your window

Hello Sarah,

I'm not running Fusion, but what's happening, at least with the F10 key, is
that you're running into conflicts with the existing key definitions for the
Mac. The F10 key is used for Exposé on the Mac side, and you definitely
want to disable the key definitions, because you're not going to use it, and
if you press these keys you'll think that your computer has frozen up. Read
the archived post for a description of what's happening and how to disable
the Exposé key definitions:

http://www.mail-archive.com/macvisionaries%40googlegroups.com/msg08197.html
(What is Exposé, and how to use its assigned keys in Fusion)

Since I'm on a laptop, my keyboard doesn't include an F13 key, so I'm not
sure what's going on there.

Cheers,

Esther

RE: a vmware question

2010-03-08 Thread Bryan Smart
Its easier to use Sharp Keys inside Windows and remap keys that way, rather
than using VMware's mapping tools. VMware doesn't do so well with remapping
modifier keys, for example. Sharp Keys will remap anything.

Re: a vmware question

2010-03-08 Thread Esther
Hello Sarah,

I'm not running Fusion, but what's happening, at least with the F10 key, is
that you're running into conflicts with the existing key definitions for the
Mac. The F10 key is used for Exposé on the Mac side, and you definitely want
to disable the key definitions, because you're not going to use it, and if you
press these keys you'll think that your computer has frozen up. Read the
archived post for a description of what's happening and how to disable the
Exposé key definitions:

http://www.mail-archive.com/macvisionaries%40googlegroups.com/msg08197.html
(What is Exposé, and how to use its assigned keys in Fusion)

Since I'm on a laptop, my keyboard doesn't include an F13 key, so I'm not sure
what's going on there.

Cheers,

Esther

a vmware question

2010-03-08 Thread Sarah Alawami
Hello to all.

I am running xp on a vmware setup and i cannot get the f13 key to map so I
could use nvda for my screen reader. I tried the map function in the
preffences but no joy and falso if I have to right click on something ,shift
f10 causes the vm to freeze. Is there another way aroun this?
