Working with iPhoto
Has anyone had any success with iPhoto and voiceover? I have five photos, the table with events, faces, places, photos, etc, but when I try and get things like the file names of photos, or create albums, I am unable to do this. When I interact with the scrol area, where I assume the pictures are displayed, I'm told by Voiceover that it's empty. I am starting guide dog training in a few weeks, and would like an easy way to publish photos to facebook, send them to friends and family, and post them online. iPhoto offers these options, but appears to be inaccessible with VO, unless I'm missing something obvious? I would greatly appreciate any pointers. Thanks, Olivia -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups MacVisionaries group. Re: Working with iPhoto
I tend to name my files before importing them to iPhoto. I've not used the facebook export tool and the majority seems off limits to us I guess because of the images. I've made several slide shows but I organise my pictures in folders outside of iPhoto and then import them. Usually having a nice sighted friend to help me label them in finder. Sorry, maybe someone else has had more luck. On 4 May 2010, at 16:43, olivia norman wrote: Has anyone had any success with iPhoto and voiceover? Re: Working with iPhoto
I accidentally added these to iPhoto before naming them. Can you tell what phot's what in iPhoto? I'm stumped here. Working with iPhoto
Hi Everyone: I have spent a fair amount of time playing with iPhoto on both my macs, but so far, I am not finding it to be accessible. I am able to find albums, and things such as faces and places but when I select the album and interact with the photos VO just reports empty scrol area and I am unable to tell what the photos are. I am able to do things like play slide shows of various albums, but I am finding I can't work with photos as well as I would like to. Does anyone have any advice? Are there better programs I can use with my mac and iPhone? Thanks! Re: Working with iPhoto
Hello olivia; I wish i could say I know of an accessible program. Like you, I've worked with iphoto. I can make it do what i need it to, but I wish it were more friendly. I find the best thing is to label my photos in finder so that I can either use the arrange by name or import date. I also like to use the tools in preview to resize or compress photos again before importing them to iphoto. I hope someone else out here has some good ideas about this. thanks and take care, max On Mar 31, 2010, at 2:51 PM, olivia norman wrote: Hi Everyone: I have spent a fair amount of time playing with iPhoto on both my macs, but so far, I am not finding it to be accessible. Re: Working with iPhoto
Olivia and others, I strongly encourage you to write the accessibility team at Apple about this matter. I wrote a message a couple of months back when I first got my Mac and noticed this, and they haven't even responded to the message. I guess - the general assumption would be that blind folks don't need photo management and video editing tools like iMovie (which was another concern addressed in the same message). But, the fact is - we do, and should be granted that access. Just drop a short note mentioning the Empty Scroll Area issue, and say that you know others share the same concern and would love access to a solid photo management solution such as iPhoto. Re: Working with iPhoto
I have done this, but have not gotten any response, which is very unlike apple, because they have responded promptly to all of my other questions. Re: Working with iPhoto
Thank you very much for those tips! I will go into where ever iPhoto has stored my photos and at least rename them in my finder.
