Re: Scheduling a zoom meeting on Mac

2024-03-10 Thread John Panarese
You can do it in Zoom. It takes a little fiddling. You have to spacebar on
the calendar part of the scheduler to get the dates to show. Then, to change
the start and end times, you need to command-down arrow to manipulate them. I
find it easier to type out the time, such as 3:00 or whatever for each field.
Once you type the required time, VO-space to confirm on it.

Scheduling a zoom meeting on Mac

2024-03-10 Thread 'Catherine Turner' via MacVisionaries
Hi,

Has anyone successfully scheduled a zoom meeting on Mac recently?
I've done this in the past but not for quite some time and when I
tried just now it was very problematic. When I was trying to type the
title of the event it kept jumping me either to the box to type
recipients or to the button to complete the schedule. Eventually I
got to type the title but the other problem was trying to use the date
and time pickers. With those I tried a mixture of quick nav on and
quick NAV off, using cursors left and right, typing, pressing the
VoiceOver cursor and pressing enter. Nothing seemed to work
consistently or understandably to me, eventually I managed to schedule
the time but I have no idea how or what I would do next time. Also
once the event appeared in my calendar and I went into the context
menu the item to email all participants was dimmed and I don't know
why that would be.

Does anyone have any ideas how to use the date/time pickers? And any
other info about how you schedule a meeting?

Thanks,
Catherine

If you're referring to a permission dialogue for the recording, you
should be able to grant or decline permission. If the dialogue doesn't
gain focus automatically, you should be able to switch windows or use
the VoiceOver application list to bring focus there.

Also, there is a keyboard command (Command-Shift-A) for mute/unmute that
should work anywhere in the Zoom application.

The record dialog is a default button so when it appears, just hit enter and
it’s gone. You can then Command Shift A to mute and unmute.

Re: Zoom Meeting

2022-06-15 Thread Julie Rattray
It shouldn’t matter if you click on the link in the invite it should let you in
anyway

I have been using zoom lots for work so if you have any issues just yell - once
you have it set the way you want it tends to work well

If I remember you have a braille display and one of the things I find really
useful with a braille display is that you can mute speech but still navigate
around without the speech getting in the way of what you are listening to in
the meeting etc

I think brad’s idea of a test meeting with yourself is a good one but if you
want to do a test with a person do yell

Brad,
Thanks, I will do this shortly. I am reminded of something I should
ask. Dow it matter which email is tied to my Zoom account? The meeting
invite will come to a different email address.

RE: How Do You Mute the Chat In A Zoom Meeting

2020-04-17 Thread Simon A Fogarty
Honestly I wouldn't use mute during a zoom session

Mute on the keyboard will mute all audio so even your zoom call.
The safest option is to switch vo off using command plus f5

I do a similar thing with my windows machine and zoom meetins
If they get to chatty with jaws then I switch jaws off using the jaws key plus
f4
Means I only get the zoom meeting.

Thanks Simon, appreciate that keyboard command.

That said I agree with Kawal, there should be a way to adjust the volume
separately and/or simply mute/close the chat. In a very large group,
especially when the host is asking for feedback the effect is, ...
indescribable!

Not all I'd hoped for but I do look forward to hitting mute next time.

Thanks to everyone who helped!

2020-04-16 Thread Robert Carter
Hi,

You can go into VO utilities, to the commanders section to keyboard commander
and assign a key to mute VoiceOver. Also, don’t forget that when VO starts
speaking, you can tap the control key to shut it up.

2020-04-16 Thread 'Kawal Gucukoglu' via MacVisionaries
Last time I had a Zoom meeting, Voice Over wouldn’t stop giving out some
information and I wasn’t even in the chat screen. In the end I turned voice
over off as I remember it wouldn’t tell me how many emails were coming in. I
wanted to turn the audio volume up but with that voice over be came loud as
well. Is there not an independent volume control so that if you need to turn
the audio volume up then voice over is not affected.

Brian Mann and other listers, this idea works great writing your hearing is
normal and you’re not a braille reader. A.k.a. you’re not deaf blind. But if
that’s done, you get no text messages and note captioning. I just want to mute
the VoiceOver speech but leave VoiceOver running because of needing to read
things in braille.

Sincerely Maurice Mines.

Re: How Do You Mute the Chat In A Zoom Meeting

2020-04-15 Thread maurice mines
Hello, Amanda five I believe turns off VoiceOver and so far as I can tell at
this point that seems to be the only good solution for this. But that won’t
work for anyone what the significant hearing loss such as myself because then
it cuts off any of the text messaging and or captioning text. So turning out
VoiceOver probably isn’t a good option. I’m doing some looking myself to see if
this is possible to do without cutting me off from the information. Because
some of the speakers in meetings decide that it’s better to try to talk away
from the phone imports it and then others “beneath the microphone and the phone
to the point that the voice becomes badly distorted. This makes Zoom meetings
so special. This is definitely one of my most vexing problems. But it does seem
to look like everyone else is thinking of what I’m thinking it’s the best way
meaning the way I’ve done it in the past but it comes with that issue that I
mentioned above.

Sincerely Maurice Mines.

I think you can go into VoiceOver Utility and assign a key stroke to it. I
just looked in the voiceOver commands help and there does not seem to be a key
stroke assigned by default.

Re: How Do You Mute the Chat In A Zoom Meeting

2020-04-15 Thread Petrus Tuerlings
You don’t need to turn VoiceOver off, you only need to mute it by doing a three
finger double tap on the trackpad or a three finger double tap on the iPhone
screen. This will keep voice-over on.

Re: How Do You Mute the Chat In A Zoom Meeting

2020-04-15 Thread Mary Otten
I don’t know anything about zoom for the Mac, but cant you mute voiceover
speech? It’s easy enough to do on the phone, and I thought there was a way to
do it on the Mac as well. Then if you need to navigate around, just unmute the
speech. I know it’s a workaround, but it should work, just like it works when
you do that with close captions that are being read out or other things that
you don’t want.

How Do You Mute the Chat In A Zoom Meeting

2020-04-15 Thread Joy Cyr
Subject line sums it up, ... I can't follow what the speaker is saying because
voice over tries to read what is being posted. And if I leave the window it is
even worse since whatever it is reading out the chat feed is very loud and
can't be interrupted. (Not that hitting control while in the window helps.)

I am on an iMac.
Any help much appreciated,
Thank YOU!
Joy
