Re: getting an individuals email address
Doesn't comand Y not work? Does here in tigerland.Would be faster at least to get the address in book. Of course if you want to hear the actual address, back to interaction again *lol.* On Sep 9, 2009, at 11:35 AM, Jessi and Goldina wrote: > > thanks!! :) I'm so glad I know how to do this again!! yay!!! > On 2009-09-09, at 11:55 AM, John André Netland wrote: > >> >> Hi Jessi, >> >> If you focus on the header, interact with it and focus on the from >> address, and press VO-shift-space, you will hear "menu" and can arrow >> down to copy the address etc. etc. Just remember to route the >> mouse to >> your VO cursor with VO-command-F5 before you click, since I suppose >> you have set mouse cursor to ignore VO cursor to avoid the sub menu >> issue. >> >> I tested this with a message from you now, and it works just fine in >> SL. >> >> Take care, >> John André >> >> >> On 9. sep. 2009, at 14.41, Jessi and Goldina wrote: >> >>> >>> hmm, this doesn't seem to work in snow leopard. Re: getting an individuals email address
Hi, I'm sorry my instructions were not clear. I believe there are a few ways you can accomplish this task. Before the upgrade it was much easier to just focus on the message headers, interact with it then move to the senders address and press vo + spacebar because the sender's name/e-mail address was a menu button which opened a few options such as copy or reply to sender. Now it does not seem as simple to me. So, here is one way I have been able to accomplish replying to the sender directly instead of the entire list. 1. Use the vo + arrow keys to get to the message header. I believe you will hear voiceover say something like message header. 2. press vo + shift + down arrow to interact with message headers. 3. Press vo + right arrow once, you should hear voiceover say "from". 4. Press vo + enter. This will allow you to highlight. 5. Press vo + right arrow once. You should hear voiceover announce the sender's name/e-mail address. 6. Press vo + return to turn highlighting off. You should hear voice over announce what is highlighted. 7. Press vo + shift + M. This should bring up a context menu. 8. Arrow up and down through the options. You can copy address or I often use reply to sender which will open up a new message with the sender's address already entered in the "to" field and the curser should be in the message area where you can type your message. This e- mail should behave as any other message you reply to. I also believe you can choose an option to send a new message to the sender which will open up a new message with the address already entered in the "to" field. 9. Press vo + spacebar to select the option you want from the context menu. One other thing that can work depending on how the e-mail list serve is set up is to press command shift r to reply to all. Then you can go up to the message header, interact with it and delete the address of the e-mail group. However, this does not seem to be working for me for the macvisionaries list. This has worked for me in the past with other groups but I have not tried this since the upgrade to SL. I think it depends on how the e-mail group list serve is set up. One other thing which I have not tried is to use command + shift + Y. This is to add the sender's address to your address book. I'm just not sure if it would add the group's e-mail address or the actual sender's address. You could try this command plus shift plus y and then open a new message to compose and then in the "to" field you can just try typing their name or the first few letters of their address. Best of luck, Christina On Sep 9, 2009, at 5:41 AM, Jessi and Goldina wrote: > > hmm, this doesn't seem to work in snow leopard. Re: getting an individuals email address
Hi Jessi, If you focus on the header, interact with it and focus on the from address, and press VO-shift-space, you will hear "menu" and can arrow down to copy the address etc. etc. Just remember to route the mouse to your VO cursor with VO-command-F5 before you click, since I suppose you have set mouse cursor to ignore VO cursor to avoid the sub menu issue. I tested this with a message from you now, and it works just fine in SL. Take care, John André On 9. sep. 2009, at 14.41, Jessi and Goldina wrote: > > hmm, this doesn't seem to work in snow leopard. hmm, this doesn't seem to work in snow leopard. I've just been trying to read the email address and remember what it is, but there has to be an easier way in sl! Hi, I miss the menu button. However, if you select the text with the name/ e-mail address in the from area then you can use vo plus shift plus m. At least that worked for me. Re: getting an individuals email address
Got to make a correction to my last post. I said you have to do a shift-mouse on the address. You only have to click the mouse to get the menu. Re: getting an individuals email address
Interact with the message content area and move the vo cursor over the message headers and enter act with it. Or, if you are reading a message, stop interacting with the body text and move vo up to the headers. In leopard, vo saw the address as a menu button. I've just noticed that now it doesn't. Nor does vo-space, or vo-shft-m work on it. Now you have to route the mouse to the address and shft-click to get the menu.
