Re: iPhone glucose meter recommendation
Be careful with these meters. Lots of them aren’t accessable themselves, and the ones I’ve tried only send the results of the test to your phone. If there is an error, for example, you are stuck-the error messages don’t get sent to the phone. Oh, and lots need a sighted person to set them up. Because of all this, I am now using the prodigy voice meter and paying for the strips out of my own pocket because that meter isn’t available here in Canada. I have also written to the people who make the qardio products asking them to please consider making a glucose meter that works with the i phone similar to their wonderful scale and blood pressure meter! hah, Caitlyn > On Jan 16, 2017, at 9:55 AM, Gerard Doody wrote: > > I also heard about the ne > On Jan 15, 2017, at 2:53 pm, John JD Denning wrote: > > Thanks everybody for your comments. Re: iPhone glucose meter recommendation
A google with: iphone glucose meter will get a ton of responses. They work by sending the result to the iphone/ipad where the app can voice and/or store the result. Make sure the app is voice accessable. One from the above google appears to be an apple product. One factor is the cost of strips. Actual meters are often given away because they know the real money is in the strips which can vary greatly in price. Also check with your insurance company because they often will only support certain meters and strips. On Sat, 14 Jan 2017, John JD Denning wrote: Greetings all. RE: iPhone glucose meter recommendation
Hi John, I've not actually tried this system myself as its bloody costly here in NZ, about 10K per year to have but There is a system out there that is a continuous glucose monitoring system which is a sensor that is inserted in to the body somewhere and then continually monitors your blood glucose levels and through an app on your phone / device will tell you all you need to know about your test results etc. I'm not sure if the app is accessible or the name of the system but it may be worth a look in to. I myself have a Care Sens N Voice system which is a little Blood Glucose Monitor that can connect to your computer via a USB data cable, A propriatory cable USB a male on one end and a 2.5mm head phone jack type plug on the other for plugging into the back of the sensor Then using a software package you can upload data to your computer and show it as it is or export in to excel etc. Hope this helps. I know nothing about this kind of thing, but I recently read the following article. It talks about a new iPhone-connected monitor, able to take a reading in five seconds and sync the data back to the Health app. There are other features as well. I have no idea of the accessibility or utility, but I thought I'd mention it. http://www.redmondpie.com/one-drop-launches-chrome-blood-glucose-monitoring-kit-for-iphone-supports-healthkit-carekit/ -- Alex Hall > On Jan 14, 2017, at 16:11, Eileen Scrivani wrote: > > Sorry, I stand corrected.
