Do you have the charger attached? If yes disconnect it and try again.

Greetings

It's a FIASCO image so you need to specifiy the -F flag:

  flasher -F Nokia_770_0.2005.42-9.bin -f -R

When i try to reflash with Nokia_770_0.2005.49-9.bin (checked md5sum) i
have the following error message:

Write failed after 131072 bytes
usb_bulk_write: Broken pipe

I'm running the flasher as root on a 2.6.13.3 box using the correct
procedure (turning the 770 after issuing flasher) and without any usb
hub (i heard about similar issues using usb hubs).

Anyone has any idea?

power the 770 on *after* you run flasher.

At the same time I setup the usbnet following the steps in
http://www.maemo.org/platform/docs/howtos/howto_usb_networking.html
however it says No Such device when I input ifup usb0,but I do have
install the usbnet.0 module?

if you're running the developer rootstrap usb networking should be
enabled. however, if you're running the standard nokia distribution, you
need to unload the file storage kernel module and load the usb ether
module. i posted some scripts to this list a few days ago that will do
that for you. you'll also need to install ssh and xterm.

From previous posts, its sounds like you need to do the following:
the 770 needs to be turned off, connect it to the PCs USB port, run
flasher and then turn on the 770.
