Do you have an osso-term installed?

If yes, can you post the output of

/sbin/ifconfig

and

nslookup google.com

?

Thanks,

[maemo-users] Themer?

2006-09-18 Thread Amichai Rotman
Hi there,

I would like to create a theme of my oen for my Nokia 770. I tried using the theme HOWTO - too complicated. I managed to break the device bootup by trying to change the boot image (blue Nokia logo) to somthing else

Any Themer out there (or under way) that I could run on my Ubuntu desktop to export to a .deb file on my device?

Thanks! -- ::.Amichai RotmanUIN#: 6401746Registered Linux User#: 201192 [http://counter.li.org/

[maemo-users] Flash to 2006 trouble

2006-09-18 Thread Willie McKemie
I just flashed my 770 to the new version. It seemed to go well.
But... I find now I can't get an internet connection.

Connection manager tells me I'm connected to my wireless access point.
Other computers using that access point work fine. The 770 worked fine
immediately before the flash. The connection manager seems to have
gotten the correct gateway, DNS, and IP from my DHCP server.

WTF?

(Can I buy a USB hub that provides power to the 770?  I'm not all thatproficient with soldering irons.)Some hubs will inject power into the socket that you normally plug into your computer (the square shaped one). If you get a female-to-female converter, you can use standard cables (the one that came with your 770 plus the one that you would normally ue to plug the hub into the computer) and a powered hub to do what you want without soldering. I have done so in the past. I would imagine that this doesn't work with all powered hubs. The only way I discovered that my hub back-feeds power was that it kept the fan running on my graphics card even when my system was powered off and unplugged!
I give no guarantees as to how healthy this is for your hub or 770 though.I will try to give your modified instructions a spin when I get a chance. Thanks for updating them./Mike

[maemo-users] Re: Re: What has happend with ogg-vorbis in

I answer below...

#
Hello List,

I followed these instructions
(http://maemo.org/platform/docs/multimedia/getting_started.html)
to get
ogg
support working.

Compiling and installation went fine: when I tap on an
ogg file the
audio
player starts (at least something ;-) ) followed by an
error message
about
wrong format and than osso-media-server requires 100%
cpu time. No ogg
playback! :-(

How can I find out what's going wrong? Had anyone
success on this
issue?

I'm willing to learn more: any help is appreciated!

Regards Krischan

Sorry, no clues :(
However I suppose the issue with the 100% CPU time may
be caused by the misuse of the integrated DSP. If the
data to be processed is not directed to the Digital
Signal Processor, this causes a situation when the CPU
has to emulate it, thus causing a lot of cycles to be
consumed and the video freezing. I am just guessing
though...
My advice is to check (again) the format of the
variable that stores the filename =)

I've updated http://maemo.org/maemowiki/HowTo_SwitchToHostMode with this
information.

It would be nice if someone confirmed the "might work" part.

After you have done the 'echo host >...', it might work after
'/etc/init.d/ke-recv stop' and '/etc/init.d/ke-recv start', because
ke-recv checks the host mode only when it starts (in order to determine
whether the g_file_storage should be loaded or not when USB cable is
connected).
