micro SDHC to mini SDHC adapter/extender

2008-01-21 Thread Jeffrey Mark Siskind
I'd like to purchase an 8G class 4 micro/mini SDHC card for the N810. From
what I can tell there are no 8G mini SDHC cards. (I have not been able to find
any by googling.) And while I have found 8G class 4 micro SDHC cards, none
seem to come with micro to mini adapter/extenders. (They come with
adapters/extenders to full size SDHC.) I've only found smaller capacity memory
cards with micro to mini adapters/extenders. And I've not been able to find a
way to purchase just a micro to mini adapter/extender without a memory card.

Is there any difference between the micro to mini adapter/extender for SDHC
cards vs. non-HC SD cards? If I purchase a small capacity microSD that comes
with a micro to mini adapter/extender (just to get the adapter/extender) will
it work with an 8G microSDHC card in the N810? Or can anybody tell me where I
can by just the adapter/extender? Or where I can buy an 8G class 4 miniSDHC
card? Or where I can buy buy an 8G class 4 microSDHC card that comes with a
micro to mini adapter/extender?

Force install one (if you are installing via the cpan shell) or install it by
hand (make install).

Perl Install Race Condition

2008-01-21 Thread R. G. Newbury
I decided to try some Perl on my N810
CPAN.pm needs some other modules: ExtUtils/ModuleMaker and File/Path
Unfortunately, those two each require the other in order to make the
Makefile.pl

Race deadlock!

Anyone have an idea?

Application Manager and Map are not open source and not really freeware
either. Maybe you had some other derogatory words in mind?

Seriously speaking, all these problems are probably fallout from the
repository mess during the holidays: I assume Application Manager has
downloaded a broken (unsigned) package and for some reason won't remove
it from the package cache so it would be downloaded again -- removing
and installing again will probably work.

Application Manager should of course just cope with the this, but I
don't see how ranting helps the situation (I'm mostly referring to your
post about Red Pill mode). If you just want to vent, maybe you could do
it in a way that doesn't involve so many other peoples mailboxes.

Map is commercial. The only seriuos problems I had in 10 years of linux

What worked for me was to unistall the application called 'map' then
install it again from the update.

2008-01-21 Thread DrFredC.com

Don't know -- same thing for the n800.  I've been getting the same
message for the weather report desktop app -- Since around Christmas.
The map and weather apps seem to work fine, so I've got to the point of
just checking to see if it's been cleared up once a week or so.

On a similar note -- my app manager seems to continually hang at
downloading updated catalogs at about 1 meg.

One must gather that this is the sort of stuff one must come to expect
when depending upon open source freeware support?

In other words, ignore it.

The iPhone seems to continue to scan for networks on occasion even
when connected over edge (not DUN) which lets it see and auto-switch
to your known wifi locations. This is pretty slick actually and when
you walk in your house the device is on the faster network...

I don't see any easy way to do this (ie. automatically switch from

Re: 8G class 6 mini/micro SDHC for N810 RS-MMC

I'm sorry but now I got confuse. What's in fact the largest (as in
capacity) card I can use on a N810 (as soon as can get mine with my
US

discount code :( )? 8Gb miniSD?

2g

This is completely false. n810 supports SDHC mini-SD (and micro-SD
with micro-SD to mini-SD adaptator).

It works perfectly fine with a 4GB SDHC mini-SD Transcend card (I
didn't buy bigger card).
As mentioned earlier on the list, I use a 8Gb micro-SD card (class 4)
with a micro-to-mini adapter: absolutely no problem since the
beginning (2 weeks ago). The card is a SanDisk, the adapter is a PNY.

Fsck unfortunately isn't very bright when it comes to memory usage.
With some file system layouts it can use too much memory.
