Here is a way to reproduce a loss of functionality ending up in
requiring removal of the battery:

N800 Intermittent Failure Mode Requiring Battery removal/reinsertion

2007-02-16 Thread Acadia Secure Networks

All,

I am finding that a few times a day I have to remove and reinsert the
battery in order to regain full functionality of the N800. In the latest
instance, the N800 failed to discover a number of 802.11 LANS that is
normally able to discover. After the battery removal/reinsertion the
system, fortunately recovers. What is mildly disconcerting about this
condition is that before the battery removal/insertion but after
powering down, the system will not power back up.

Mine behaves oddly on a reboot too - I've got RD enabled, and if I perform
shutdown -r now the device will shutdown then restart but I don't get the nolo
and initifs version details (green text on a white screen). Instead I get just the NOKIA logo
on a white screen and the device will now hang - I have to pull the battery in order to
achieve a successful reboot.

Hopefully this is just one of the many niggles fixed addessed by the next
firmware update. :)
