How can I format it? Is there something tablet specific?

You can use File Manager to format it, or you can use mkdosfs directly.

Btw. Shouldn't Maemo report such problems and help the user to fix it?

Try checking the filesystem, spontaneous switches to read-only mode can be
  signs of FS corruption.

But if it saeems OK, why format it? Or is it still not OK in some other
way?

Note that dosfsck has a *nasty nasty* user interface issue where it asks
you about repairing changes and pretends that it is repairing changes,
while actually not changing anything on disk (or SD card).

You need to pass a special command line option to dosfsck to get it to
repair stuff.

my internal memory card is read only, but in the Memory-Settings (from
Control panel) the checkbox isn't activated. I tried to restart the
device, but after reboot it's still read-only. I can remount it to
read-write, but after one action it's read-only again. Any idea?

the filesystem is corrupt. Some time ago I struggled with this and
found the easiest solution was to back up and reformat the card rather
than try to repair the fs.
