OK, I really need and want to get involved with this and find a mentor.
I have no definite work lined up beyond middle of next week, so if
someone would be able to mentor me that would be fab. I will need some
hand-holding to start with, but I learn fairly quickly; I have a
background in embedded programming so this is not totally alien to me,
even if much of the terminology you use in all this is!

I'm pretty sure that once I have had a lesson in doing it from scratch
I'll be able to do it with little help after that.

I'm in the UK so you know what time zone I'm in.

Would be really good if a potential mentor could reply *off* list so the
mail plops into my main mailbox and not into the Megeia folder.

Thanks! :~)

Hello,

what you can do is to open a bugreport with one spec file so we will be able to
review it inside. I can take a look.

Thank you for quick reply. I didn't notice at wkik that a bug report should
be filed. Should i file bugreport for a package request? If so i have
already one; https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9222

Though i did not paste .spec file there. Adding to that report ASAP.

There is no need to call everything release blocker as soon as a bug
 is annoying.
Here, it's just something annoying that needs to be fixed by the

Re: [Mageia-dev] issue with accentuated letters with gnome: gdb vs gnome vs locale-br

For some time, I've issues with typing accentued letter within gnome
 with br_FR locale (breton language).
I tried altered the LC_CTYPE content by replacing
copy en_DK
 by:
copyfr_FR

But that doesn't fix it (and anyway that's the value since a decade).

 I noted that gnome doesn't set $LC_CTYPE
When tested, both LC_CTYPE=fr_FR gedit and LC_CTYPE=br_FR gedit
allows me to type accentuated letters such as é.

Also running startx startgnomeclassic -- :1 from a tty works fine.

The difference is that in that case, the shell has read ~/.i18n and set
 LC_CTYPE accordingly.

It looks like the issue may be when gnome is run from gdm.

Does that ring any bell to anyone?

Anyone?
I'll upload rpmdrake with global progress bar if someone finds out the
issue with gnome!

  - fix loading modules with - in their names (mga#9242)

ah, ok, is there a reason for this (to have separate a change and then a
version bump)?

now that you mention this, i think i've seen you say this to thomas before...
it would've been nice to have had some documentation regarding these things...

 - please revert your dist-svn-test;
when one wants to test, either he commits in git-svn or he locally runs
 make

well, it would've been nicer if you have said so before (or documented it
someplace), i spent more than 4 hours figuring out why my changes had no
effect... but sure, i'll revert it.

I hope you tested several modules with both case?

yes, i tried with several. and since the xen-netfront modules aren't
autodetected for some reason (i'm trying to look into it), i had the
opportunity to test alot with various modules. (also, i note that virtmanager
telling to use e1000 or other model, it still uses the netfront one instead..)

You really do not want to come on big old commits when trying to understand
a problem.

b/c it has no pci/usb alias, only the following (which we do not look for)
alias: xennet
alias: xen:vif

well, we don't know how to detect that.

[Mageia-dev] Freeze push: foomatic-db-engine

2013-03-14 Thread David Walser
This updates to 4.0.9, with just a couple minor changes:

* lib/Foomatic/DB.pm: Error out when initializing the DB object without any
form of a Foomatic database being present, made the getpage() method a normal,
object-independent function as it does not need a Foomatic database.

* foomatic-configure.in, foomatic-printjob.in: Updated to use getpage() as a
normal function, fixed CUPS check, made foomatic-printjob working without
presence of a Foomatic database.

http://bzr.linuxfoundation.org/loggerhead/openprinting/foomatic-4.0/foomatic-db-engine/annotate/head:/ChangeLog

I confirmed it builds fine in Cauldron.
