 Nice job!

 I failed to compile enabling NaCL as I advised in a previous mail.
 Have you tried on your side?

 I will try again starting from your package. I will let you know if I
 succeed (unless you enable it yourself easily, which would be great!).

 Thanks,

if failed here. I will retry later, the most important was to update it.

 Hey!

 I can see you have imported python-distribute that generates
 package python-pkg-resources.

 And now the problem:
 http://pkgsubmit.mageia.org/uploads/rejected/cauldron/core/release/20130113212011.umeabot.valstar.22055.youri

 - - python-setuptools generates package with same name. I think you should
 rename yours to python-pkg-resources-distribute or something like
 that.

 The problem is that python-distribute should have then been
 uploaded just after. python-pkg-resources got cleaned from the
 mirrors because it was a leftover package built from a src.rpm
 which no longer existed, and the one from python-distribute had not
 been uploaded.

 Not python-distribute but python-setuptools. They both had
 python-pkg-resources as sub-package. And as python-distribute has
 bigger version its subpackage was uploaded. That package should come
 from python-setuptools as it was before Thomas imported python-distribute.

 Yes sorry, mixed them :)
 But now we need to fix the problem: python-setuptools can not be
 uploaded while this package is still here (as the version is lower) or
 if the package is removed (as chroot creation will fail).
 I think I will force the upload of python-setuptools

BS should be fixed now, tell me if any pbs.

[Mageia-dev] Big problem with a rpm = freeswitch

2012-12-08 Thread D.Morgan
Hello,

while looking to beta1 isos pbs i saw a pb with a rpm that shouldn't
have been allowed to go in mageia cauldron. The package is freeswitch.

First the spec file is excuse me the word awful ( see
http://svnweb.mageia.org/packages/cauldron/freeswitch/current/SPECS/freeswitch.spec?revision=328996view=markup
)

1- macro redefined
2- Use of some LIBDIR PKGCONFIGDIR macros instead of using the std
rpms macros  like :

%define PREFIX  %{_prefix}
%define EXECPREFIX  %{_exec_prefix}
%define BINDIR  %{_bindir}
%define SBINDIR %{_sbindir}
%define LIBEXECDIR  %{_libexecdir}/%name
%define SYSCONFDIR  %{_sysconfdir}/%name
%define SHARESTATEDIR   %{_sharedstatedir}/%name
%define LOCALSTATEDIR   %{_localstatedir}/lib/%name
%define LIBDIR  %{_libdir}
%define INCLUDEDIR  %{_includedir}

3- libs are in the main package
4- the package can break other packages like firefox as it provides
%{_libdir}/libnspr4.so

I think this package must be removed from mageia as long as its
packaging isn't cleaned and should be reviewed before being included
in mageia in the future.

WDYT ?

Regards,
D.

 $ rpm -q gnome-shell --requires | grep Meta

 I don't see why an explicit libmutter-gir3.0 would be needed.

 Because of:
 $ urpmq --provides -p typelib(Meta)
 muffin: muffin[== 1:1.1.1-1.mga3]
 muffin: muffin(x86-64)[== 1:1.1.1-1.mga3]

 lib64mutter-gir3.0: lib64mutter-gir3.0(x86-64)[== 3.6.0-1.mga3]
 lib64mutter-gir3.0: typelib(Meta)[== 3.0]
  ^

 but gnome-shell does not work with muffin, it needs lib64mutter-gir3.0

 So if Muffin is breaking this automatic dependency tracking, then IMO
 the bug is in Muffin. It (upstream/ package) should properly rename
 things as not to cause bugs in GNOME packages. Even if upstream doesn't
 do that, a muffin package should not provide something which conflicts
 with mutter. That automatic provides should be removed in Muffin IMO.

 The import of Cinnamon caused a very big QA issue in GNOME. I don't like
 that. Cinnamon came after GNOME, so the extra work to support Cinnamon
 should be limited to Cinnamon packages, not GNOME ones.

 +1

 Col

cinnamon isn't in mageia and muffin isn't required by anything. Maybe
we can remove it from mageia.

 initscripts are deprecated, you're supposed to use systemd service now...

 BTW: I've read (quickly) initscripts will no longer be supported in
 mageia 3.

 If true, what about proprietary applications ?
 Same as before: you have to write systemd services yourself if the
 application doesn't provide one. Being proprietary doesn't change
 anything here.

 I do think a lot of sysadmin will just see their application doesn't
 works anymore and prefer to switch to another distribution (more
 enterprise oriented).

initscript are still recognized and will still be by systemd. This is
just that in mageia 3 we won't support booting with old sysvinit way,
only with systemd ( that understand and use old sysvinit system when
files are installed ).

 All the libs can be ignored as they are all no longer needed, so it's

 For enna, it needs fixes for (I think) new GCC or newer libvalhalla, so
 it would be great if someone could look at that. I'm not familiar with
 the project, but I did find some references that it's more or less
 deprecated now (Geebox seems to have switched to xbmc as it's primary

 For chromium-browser-unstable I propose we just drop it. We can keep the
 -stable chromium named as it is just now although I would personally
 prefer to see it just called chromium-browser (as no other package has
 this strange naming policy and arguably many of them could if we shipped
 two versions). I don't see a problem re-introducing an -unstable variant
 again in the future, but unless someone is actively maintaining it it's
 arguably just getting in the way.

 Yes, either a sysadmin could delete everything that was built from the qt4

 fine.  It'd be nice to

 No need to yell.  I was misled.  We just removed this patch, which made our

 allow my rewrite, I need a sysadmin to remove the following pkg from
 the repositories:

 perl-Lemonldap-NG-Common
 perl-Lemonldap-NG-Handler
 perl-Lemonldap-NG-Manager
 perl-Lemonldap-NG-Portal

 This modules will be included in the main package, in this way we'll
 have a full-compatible spec with upstream and we'll be able to adapt
 our spec file when upstream will modify theirs.

 Thanks to sysadmin.

 Personally, I don't see the point in using %exclude to exclude files

 So for me %exclude should only operate on subpackage file list and

 Hmm, since when do we obsolete libs like this?

 Since task-obsolete was introduced. It's a way to get rid of old,
 obsoleted and unused pkgs which are also removed from SVN (moved to
 /packages/obsolete/).

 I wasn't aware we ever did this and I can't think of a good reason to do
 so either so I would prefer this change was reverted (and any other old
 libs in there similarly removed from obsoletion).

 There is a difference between no longer shipping something and no longer
 supporting it being installed. If I've compiled my own software against
 any given library I do not want something to remove it automatically and
 break my build. That's the whole point in having library packaging the
 way we do - to allow them to live on mostly forever on an installed
 system. If we no longer support something being installed then using
 task-obsoletes seems wise.

 I guess we need another way to drop pkgs easily from our mirrors then.

 Users are then responsible for removing old library packages they no
 longer want from their system using either the urpme --auto-orphans or
 urpmq --not-available.

 Maybe I've misunderstood the intention here, and if so feel free to
 correct me!

 My primary motives was to drop pkgs from our repos, but in this case
 there's no need to have libxfce4menu installed in any system as it was
 abandoned upstream over 1.5 years ago and there's no pkgs needing it in
 our repos (mga1, mga2 or mga3).

 Can't say anything about other cases, though.

packages are automatically removed from the repo ( or by pterjan i
don't recall ) so no need and we never obsolete libs.

As we have oxygen by default this is important to have this version
and in addition hugo one of the main dev of oxygen-gtk3 uses mageia so
he test on cauldron.

 Hello,

 just to double-check,

 the new oxygen-gtk2 release should be oxygen-gtk2-1.2.2-1.tar.gz
 (available at

 oxygen-gtk3-1.0.2-1.tar.gz,

 There are a number of important fixes regarding endian issues (important
 for our arm port) and some others relating to the management of the

 version which is already patched with one of the upstream fixes for an
 issue in this regard - tho' it's not the full story).

 This is the version that will be in Fedora 17 which is approximately in
 line with our schedule, we will be getting the benefit of their testing too.

 If this is just crazy talk, I will go through and cherry pick the
 important commits, but this will likely be 60% of the real commits.

 I'm obviously running it here.

 What say thee?
