The import of Cinnamon caused a very big QA issue in GNOME. I don't like that. It'd be nice to know why these packages disappeared though. It's not the first time something like this has happened. no we need to find why it fails. i resubmited and twice with the same result.

Easpecially in this case as udev is merged with systemd, even an obsoletes would be ok. how do you add an obsolete in the debug package ?

Yeah I've often found that with SVN commits where I realise a mistake has been made, my CTRL-C never seems to be quick enough! Removing the patch matches us to that upstream. changes upstream behavior, and adds the extra usage of %exclude, which as
Colin and I pointed out, you can just rm things in %install (or patch
Makefiles) instead.
WE DON'T USE ANY PATCH FOR THIS AND WE USE UPSTREAM %EXCLUDE BEHAVIOUR

So, if we want to follow Colin's suggestion, we drop the patch. The patch
changes upstream behavior, and adds the extra usage of %exclude, which as
Colin and I pointed out, you can just rm things in %install (or patch
Makefiles) instead.
WE DON'T USE ANY PATCH FOR THIS AND WE USE UPSTREAM %EXCLUDE BEHAVIOUR

Both rpm in mga1 and in mga2 don't have it applied. The link David sent
originally is an old release it seems.

the goal is to be compatible with rpm.org based linux distribution. If
you want to see %exclude behaviour to change provide the patch
upstream.

If we no longer support something being installed then using task-obsoletes seems wise. I guess we need another way to drop pkgs easily from our mirrors then. Users are then responsible for removing old library packages they no longer want from their system using either the urpme --auto-orphans or urpmq --not-available. Maybe I've misunderstood the intention here, and if so feel free to correct me! My primary motives was to drop pkgs from our repos, but in this case there's no need to have libxfce4menu installed in any system as it was abandoned upstream over 1.5 years ago and there's no pkgs needing it in our repos (mga1, mga2 or mga3). Can't say anything about other cases, though. packages are automatically removed from the repo ( or by pterjan i don't recall ) so no need and we never obsolete libs.

I just pushed a new rpm of freetype in tainted.
