Bug fixes: - - Fixed regression in 1.5.4.0 : saving animated gif was not working anymore. - - Fixed regression in 1.5.4.0 : command '-gimp_list_filters' was not working anymore. - - Fixed bug in -type' command which was preventing things like this working as expected : gmic -repeat 2 -type short -type float -done (Thanks to Jerome B. for having noticed this!). - - Fixed bug in '-polygon'. Particular cases of complex polygons were not displaying correctly. - - Fixed bug in PPM loader. PPM files generated by some tools by SONY were not readable. - - Added additional memory checking to avoid segfault when incorrectly dealing with shared images. Version 1.0.0 ships with a lot of improvements and bugfixes (we currently provide the version 0.4.0). The point of a version freeze is not let's bring as much improvements and bugfixes as possible, but let's make sure that was is supposed to be working now still works tomorrow. So the magic keywords would rather be nothing depends on nomacs, I'm the maintainer, and I commit myself to fix every potential issues arising thereafter. Yeap, I wrote about the improvements to highlight that this release provides not only bugfixes but also new stuff that can potentially break. At least this was what I had in my mind :-P Then I wrote that we are currently providing version 0.4.0 to point out that -as I'm the maintainer- it could be difficult to backport each bugfix from 0.5.0 to 1.0.0 into the current version. It's quite clear to me the reason of a version freeze but maybe I should pay more attention to the way I write freeze push requests. I do not think that keeping version 3.3.4 it's the best solution because there are many improvements not related to new features shipped with 3.4.0 but, I clearly understand your reasons and I can try to backport the missing fixes without package version changes. Regards [1] Note that many of these bugs have already been backported to the 3.3.x versions. - -- Matteo -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- Version: GnuPG v1.4.12 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org/ iQEcBAEBAgAGBQJRGAtAAAoJED3LowjDDWbNK8cIAI5w7JtZlDygMTVy0P1cxuiU lXWxzVhHmeIvwC1Ihy30OnKQ17opdUI8ML4VXOCNbVqzHHgyTvZzvTJ7A9IipDh/ WGgAZJ6RlJ/p/1P7Q+lGfpziFOSRc29ZOyaoYj3AVM6eLEl+kwCtxwKhQ7er4AE1 +N661NTvj8vm3M+iZ96xL3qaZa6KXSLmPqHb6NEJxWm6oXCmrFD6b8Rcj5oWAnTc 6OnZeUzKMonJGKGCoRrM9ip+5Nm+1B5pQJ7bB6pQPe4iN83Zyh2QclsOsUahQqvZ BCFyQT4t8L/rq+Ubitq1IiKgueJ4IAnQjqEBS5IBpcgqaqNZV2zKpg4HfgVG93M= =2qhU -END PGP SIGNATURE-

I was inspired by /usr/lib/libDrakX/common.pm and other modules that are not very readable and that contain similar duplications. Again, this module it's still a prototype and I'm learning new stuff while coding it. I'll work on improving its readability. Morevoer, you'd better test before executing the command: die You must be root to run this program if !require_root_capability(); exec { $command-[0] } $command-[1], @args or die (command %s missing, $command-[0]); Same as above, take a look at /usr/lib/libDrakX/common.pm and you'll see that the test is performed after the exec. +sub wrap_command { +my $currenv = env; +my $wrapper = pkexec; +my $app = $0; +my $command = [$wrapper, $currenv, $app]; +($command); +} Perl best practice: use explicit return statement, for better readability: return ($command); Again, same as above. Using temporary variables for constant isn't very useful here, the whole function would probably be more readable this way: sub wrap_command { my ($app) = @_; return (['pkexec', 'env', $app]); } I don't understand the need for list contexte here, tough. BTW, your indentation isn't consistent between various files. I worked almost exclusively on the file you have dissected =) and honestly it's not a big issue to me to read source files with different indentations (I mean if they are somehow indented and readable). I'll try to improve my code even paying attention to your precious advices. Thank you. A DVD with updates This DVD may present a benefit for people with small bandwidth or in case of a multiple machine environment. Although, in such a case I'd prefer a local repository with nightly sync. A DVD with all updates is only a snapshot of one moment in the release's life, part of it may be outdated next day or week. So, 2 weeks later we have the same questions as today. I don't think that Mageia should offer this, not talking about the fact that everybody can do this (at the time which suits himself) without much knowledge. A DVD with updates is a nice idea for a local community where somebody has enough bandwidth to host a local repo (or even mirror) and can hand out update snapshots on request for people with small bandwidth.. [Mageia-dev] check_elf_files bug

I attached the patch I made to solve the problem. Maybe there are better ways. Without this patch I can't build sdlbasic. The only alternative I found is to rename all of the filenames containing parentheses (that makes the spec file ugly and difficult to maintain, imho). That's why I choose the latest git revision (cloned the 2011.09.09) to build the package. This revision compiles and works fine but it doesn't match version 4.1.1 (the application itself displays Version GIT into the about box) so I've used that version numbering to allow future upgrades. Let me know if you think it's an acceptable behaviour, please. There's no problem from my point of view of providing a git version of kphotoalbum (especially if it's fixing some compilations problem). Regarding the version the end user in fact will look for the « last » version aka 4.1.1 and will only notice that mageia is providing the version 0, since the next release of kphotoalbum will be 4.1.1 , i think you can use safely 4.1.1 for the version number in the spec. It also reflect the fact that current git is based against the 4.1.1 even if currently the « about version » mentionned that kphotoalbum is git based. Ok, fixed. However, let me know if it still happens so I can verify what I'm doing wrong. I've done other tests to learn the art of packaging and these[1] are the results. If it is in the tarball, what should be done is a subpackage rather than 2 srpms. Thi way, you can update both in one round. Yes, this was my intention, because I've seen a similar solution for the gambas2 package. [Mageia-dev] Looking for a mentor
Hi all, I would like to become a packager and I need a mentor. I'm quite new to software packaging but I've already done some test with a small package (axel) following the procedures on the packaging_beginners page and the mandriva howto. rpmlint obviously says that the resulting rpm it's not perfect :-) but the rpm seems to works fine enough. Someone available? Regards, -- Matteo () ascii ribbon campaign - against html e-mail /\ www.asciiribbon.org - against proprietary attachments

[Mageia-dev] Problem with monitor brightness
Hi all, I'm experiencing a problem at the login: the monitor brightness is too low and I can see window ghost only. No keyboard keys combinations (Fn+Brightness[+/-]) works. Restarting kdm (service dm restart) seems to solve the problem, but after a restart I'm still at the starting point. I'm on a hyunday as26 laptop, video card Unichrome S3 shared memory. Any tips? -- Matteo () ascii ribbon campaign - against html e-mail /\ www.asciiribbon.org - against proprietary attachments
