Title:
HTML file from Moodle is not transferred correctly

Status in Mahara ePortfolio:
  New

Bug description:
This was trialed on the iMoot2011 site at http://2011.imoot.org/ It is
connected to a Mahara 1.2 installation. When a text assignment and
forum post (both simple text) were saved as HTML file to be
transferred to Mahara, the HTML files could not be chosen in the Some
HTML block. When the files were saved on the desktop from Moodle and
uploaded into Mahara manually, they were recognized correctly and
  displayed.

Would that be a Moodle or Mahara bug?

I attach one of the files, but as the problem is in the transfer, I am
not sure how useful this is.

Increase length of username column to 255 to support shibboleth/SSO
  userIDs

Status in Mahara ePortfolio:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
get_new_username in lib/user.php truncates username to 30 characters
by default. In some cases this is too short.

As an example I have modified the SimpleSAMLPhP authenticator to use
the Internet2 Shibboleth SAML service provider (SP). In cases where
the eduPersonPrincipleName attribute (which look like
usern...@domain.com) is not provider to the SP, the SP can either use
the SAML1 eduPersonTargetedID attribute (which looks like
e54710df7638d...@domain.com) or the serialized SAML2 NameID (which
  looks like !IdP-entityID!SP-entityID!lq7q48crsqzyqehetxahzcgi/bc=
and the entityIDs have the form of a URL) as usernames.

30 characters is far to small to handle this and more over the
varchar(100) username field in the various tables like 'usr' will
  impact on this issue aswell.

My guess is that you should be looking atleast 256 or 512 characters
  for this.

PS. This is an issue for both SSP and Shibboleth.

After clicking any of the tabs, (after the menu has expanded), the

Thus, having the important column with page and collection titles in
the middle is a bit weird because you have to focus your attention in
the middle and then go to the left to see the access list.

I propose the following (see attached mockup):

  1. make the Pages Collections column the first one and then have access
list and edit access
  2. move the number of secret URLs closer to the edit button
  3. substitute the pencil button for the key button for the secret URL for
consistency; besides: a secret URL can only be generated and not edited; I
think the key would be more appropriate as it shows access

Institution authentication plugin option doesn't exist when creating

Status in Mahara ePortfolio:
  Triaged

Bug description:
  On 1.4.0alpha2dev

When creating an institution there is no 'Authentication Plugin'
configuration option available on the 'Add Institution' page. See
  attached addinstitution.png.

If you deselect the 'Registration allowed?' checkbox and hit submit
the institution is created but the user is presented with what looks
like a failed form submission. See attached
authenticationpluginerror.png. A new 'Authentication Plugin' option
now exists and the Institution name option has disappeared. There
is no marker on the authentication plugin option indicating that it is
  required.

If you click cancel where it looks like the submission has failed you
can see that the new institution was in fact created and if you edit
the settings you can see that it has IMAP as the authentication
  plugin.

Perhaps this could be managed better with a bit of JS to tie in the
registration option with the display/hide of the authentication
setting; defaulting to both visible if JS is not enabled.

[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 738263] Re: faulty contact us form with noreplyaddress configdirective

Title:
faulty contact us form with noreplyaddress configdirective

Status in Mahara ePortfolio:
  Triaged

Bug description:
I am using Mahara 1.3.3 clean install on shared hosting with
inmotionhosting, linux php 5.3, mysql. Everything works, but my
emails sent by mahara are getting blocked. I had the same problem
with my moodle installation, but was able to configure it with SMTP
email and a defined, working noreply address. However, this is not
  working with mahara.

The mail is actually sent, but is blocked at the destination because
the user's profile email address is being used as the from field,
instead of the noreplyaddress as defined. Since the email is coming
from another domain, but claiming to be from the same domain as the
recipient, it's blocked by the receiving mailserver (rightfully so).

In doing the testing, I was following the troubleshooting info on the
wiki and using the contact us form to send the test emails. Peeking
around the code I see that that is a rather crude form that takes
the email given and passes it on to phpmailer as the from address.
The from email field is autopopulated since I am logged in, so the
noreplyaddress is never used in this case.

After fixing other problems, the contact form submissions still get
blocked (obviously). In a case where the noreplyaddress config
directive is set, the form should be smart enough to substitute that
address for the entered address (or better yet-- apply that address to
the reply-to address, and use the noreply address as the from or
sender fields to comply with proper envelope format and accepted
relay rules) since in effect mahara is using the mailserver as a
  relay.

If that can't be done, perhaps you could include a switch to turn off
the contact form and replace it with a email address url for contact
(mailto) so the person trying to contact the admin can use their own
mail system (less ideal I guess).

Lastly, until this is fixed, and possibly after, the troubleshooting
docs shouldn't suggest using this form to troubleshoot email since the
  form itself is the problem!

Save is selected for that region on the Cover Letter page. It is
not dependent on whether there is information in the cover letter
field or not. There is no way to unsave it later.

  To clarify:

-in the cover letter/resume area of My Profile: if an individual
selects the Save button underneath Personal Information, those
fields will automatically be added to a view whenever the Entire
Resume block is added, even if there is no information in any of
