I was trying to setup the cronjob for mahara explained like in the
wiki:

But it do not work.
See the entry in the /etc/crontab:

/data/srv/www/mahara/lib/cron.php >> /var/log/mahara/cron.log 2>&1
and the output of log-file in /var/log/mahara/cron.log:
"A nonrecoverable error occured. This probably means you have encountered a

The only other thing is that the site was operating in German, the
German langpack was installed. I can't see how that would have been a
problem however.
I submit that you should just apply the fix anyway. That file mentions
that function, therefore that file should have access to that function.
require_once will prevent any problems, and there'll be plenty of other
lower hanging performance fruit before you have to worry about an extra
require_once.

Mahara 1.3.6.
When logged in as the site administrator, and trying to place some
feedback on a group view that they owned. No file was uploaded, and
just the word 'Test' was entered into the feedback box.
Upon submission, I got this in the logs:
PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined function
group_get_default_artefact_permissions() in
/var/www/ewiesion.com/mahara/artefact/lib.php on line 834
Adding a require_once('group.php') at the top of artefact/lib.php
fixed the issue.

If a cron function causes an exception for whatever reason, then the cron will stop, but the lock isn't removed. The job then isn't tried again for another 24 hours. Whilst this is possibly correct in some fashions -- e.g. broken crons aren't run endlessly to no point, some crons may cause an exception once in a while which isn't a major issue but shouldn't mean that the cron doesn't take place for another 24 hours. For example, network issues will probably cause the cron_check_for_updates cron to fail, but this could be a transient issue. Not sure whether it's best to catch the errors and alert an administrator but still keep the lock in place (to prevent the admin from being spammed), or to catch the errors and assume that they may be transient and try again, or some other solution... xmlrpc client API doesn't use proxy settings

in api/xmlrpc/client.php: function send():
this doesn't ever use proxy settings, hence was timing out for me
because my web server MUST go through a proxy.
I was able to fix it by adding these lines:
if($proxy_address = get_config('proxyaddress')) {
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_PROXY, $proxy_address);
}

just the word 'Test' was entered into the feedback box.
Upon submission, I got this in the logs:

group_get_default_artefact_permissions() in
/var/www/ewiesion.com/mahara/artefact/lib.php on line 834
Adding a require_once('group.php') at the top of artefact/lib.php
fixed the issue.

I can't replicate this issue.
I was doing the following
Create new group
Create new page/view in group
View new page/view
Place feedback
Tried with both no attachment and with attachment
Works fine for me on 1.3_STABLE 1.4_STABLE and master (master it doesn't
actually let me upload an attachment...)
Can you walk us through what you did to get the error?

I was trying to setup the cronjob for mahara explained like in the
wiki:

But it do not work.

Even though $cfg->wwwroot might be set 'https://somemaharasite', depending on apache config, user may still be able to use insecure page for logging in by entering 'http://somemaharasite' in the web browser address field, then, upon logging-in, user credentials will be passed through insecure connection first, before sever respond with redirection to https secured page. This is valid for other pages after logging in - at any time used may switch back to insecure connection by typing 'http://somemaharasite/somedir/somepage.php'. This can be fixed by ensuring that $_SERVER['HTTPS'] is set when $cfg->wwwroot = 'https://...', otherwise redirecting user to the same page using https.
