[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 673319] Re: Saving view takes you to back to start page rather than the view itself
On master, the main save button is now called done. Furthermore, hitting save when editing the view properties takes you to the content page for that view. ** Changed in: mahara Status: Triaged = Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Mahara Contributors, which is subscribed to Mahara. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/673319 Title: Saving view takes you to back to start page rather than the view itself Status in Mahara ePortfolio: Fix Released Bug description: Mahara version 1.3.3, Ubuntu Server 64 Bit OS, Postgres, Firefox, Chrome When finished editing a view it would be great if after you hit the save button it would take you back to the view instead of back to the main page. This gets quite annoying when you have several views and it takes multiple clicks just to get back to where you were. Is there a quick code tweak I could implement to make this happen? [Mahara-contributors] [Bug 661590] Re: Create blocktype Outcomes for Moodle 1.9 submitted work
I guess we don't really have to worry about Moodle 1.9 anymore, but it would be nice to get this working with Moodle 2. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Mahara Contributors, which is subscribed to Mahara. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/661590 Title: Create blocktype Outcomes for Moodle 1.9 submitted work Status in Mahara ePortfolio: Triaged Bug description: Mark Drechsler demonstrates the Moodle plugin for submitted Mahara views into Moodle 1.9 at http://www.markdrechsler.com/?p=144 As he says, it would be good to have a blocktype to pull the outcomes information into a Mahara view. I believe, even with Moodle 2.0 coming, not everybody will move to it immediately and thus, this plugin, especially as it submits views for grading in Moodle, is a great addition for those who are looking into using Mahara for assessment purposes. Furthermore, please correct me if I am wrong, but even with the Portfolio API and the Repository API, I cannot submit views from Mahara into Moodle 2. However, when a view is added to a collection it can't be reused; either in a collection or on its own. As an example, I may have created a CV view which I plan to use for all my job applications. I plan to create a new collection for each application as the jobs I'm applying for are in different areas. I therefore need to have a CV in each collection, and having to create a new CV view for each collection doesn't fit with Mahara's concept of reuse of content. In addition, I may wish to share just my CV with someone, and presently when they visit it they will see the navigation bar for the collection. It makes sense for views to exist separately to collections, rather than as part of them. Users are taken to a default my name's blog when clicking on the journal link under the content tab - with no option to add a new journal or to display any others that they might have created. If the same users click on the Publish a Journal' link on the dashboard the button to create a new journal, and any other journals are also visible. The hyperlink from each of these two links appears to be the same. I've encountered the issue when working with staff who had Mahara accounts before the upgrade, as well as new students - when clicking on either link, I (the administrator) see the option to create a new journal and all my existing journals, but others who have a second journal don't see it when clicking on the journal link under the tabs. I've found the reference to opting to have multiple journals from the individual's acount settings but this issue is really confusing our users who are encouraged to keep separate journals for different purposes. If I had option to enable multiple journals globally by default that would help - but users should see the all of their journals and ideally the same 'create' option from the tab link that they see from the dashboard. I've managed to get this developed by our local team. Public bug reported: For quality assurance purposes, assessed work (in the UK HE context) has to be moderated by an external verifier, who will require access to the original work. It would make sense for this to appear as a link at the bottom of the Page being assessed, e.g. next to the add to watchlist link. As assessed work is unlocked from editing when released back to the student (and I agree that this should be the case) it would be useful for a teacher to be able to export a submitted Page as standalone HTML. Everything works, but my emails sent by mahara are getting blocked. I had the same problem with my moodle installation, but was able to configure it with SMTP email and a defined, working noreply address. However, this is not working with mahara. The mail is actually sent, but is blocked at the destination because the user's profile email address is being used as the from field, instead of the noreplyaddress as defined. Since the email is coming from another domain, but claiming to be from the same domain as the recipient, it's blocked by the receiving mailserver (rightfully so). In doing the testing, I was following the troubleshooting info on the wiki and using the contact us form to send the test emails. Peeking around the code I see that that is a rather crude form that takes the email given and passes it on to phpmailer as the from address. The from email field is autopopulated since I am logged in, so the noreplyaddress is never used in this case. After fixing other problems, the contact form submissions still get blocked (obviously). In a case where the noreplyaddress config directive is set, the form should be smart enough to substitute that address for the entered address (or better yet-- apply that address to the reply-to address, and use the noreply address as the from or sender fields to comply with proper envelope format and accepted relay rules) since in effect mahara is using the mailserver as a relay. If that can't be done, perhaps you could include a switch to turn off the contact form and replace it with a email address url for contact (mailto) so the person trying to contact the admin can use their own mail system (less ideal I guess). Lastly, until this is fixed, and possibly after, the troubleshooting docs shouldn't suggest using this form to troubleshoot email since the form itself is the problem! Such that when I display an award on a page i have the option of including the scanned certificate. This would make my page more multimodal and more exciting/interesting. Cheers, Shane. These descriptions often need bullet points etc, and at the bare minimum a way to add carriage returns to separate paras. Any browser/os. Mahara 1.4.0 Thanks, Shane. [Mahara-contributors] [Bug 722497] Re: Place non-author content, e.g. merit badges, on a page
** Tags removed: certification -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Mahara Contributors, which is subscribed to Mahara. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/722497 Title: Place non-author content, e.g. merit badges, on a page Status in Mahara ePortfolio: Triaged Bug description: On MyPortfolio we had the enquiry about having merit badges displayed on a student's page / profile. As these should not be tampered with by the student, the enquiry / wishlist item is similar to bug 722495 as it boils down to giving somebody else besides the page owner some control over artefacts placed on a page. My suggestion for a solution that is open for discussion: Thank you for your suggestion with the Merit Badges. I think they would be a good addition. However, the not be able to tamper with part is tricky because Mahara / MyPortfolio puts the student in the centre and s/he is the author of all her / his pages. A teacher or administration cannot put anything on a page that a student can't remove as he doesn't have the authority on the student's pages. Thus, introducing such badges for profile pages is not a simple thing to do. At the moment, the only way I can see this work, besides Craig's suggestion with the electronic verification [of a PDF file à la Moodle], would be to develop a database in which each institution admin can store merit, sports etc. badges (would it be important to categorise them?). He would then have an area on the student account page where he can add the badges the student has earned over time. On the edit page screen, the student would have a new blocktype, e.g. under General, Badges, which s/he can pull into the content area. That would work not just for the profile page but for any personal page on MyPortfolio so that he could also include the badges on a CV page. If the bages are categorised, s/he can choose which badge categories to display (if that is necessary). The badges are all displayed as thumbnails or in a series to scroll through like in the image gallery. As the student cannot choose the badges individually, but displays them from the central institution database, they are as tamper-safe as can be because even when the student allows the copying of that page, the badge block would display the badges of the student who copies the page into her / his portfolio as the block would always display the current student's badges.
