[Mailman-Users] compare lists setup

2017-03-21 Thread jdd

Hello :-)

Gmail recipient anti spam filters get me mad.

After some work, I have one list that reaches the gmail recipients, good!

but I have an other list that get bounces. same server, same domain.

I guess I forgot some setup on the other list

comparing on the web interface is very difficult.

is there a way to read these setups directly on the server in a config
file where I could make a diff?

thanks

[Mailman-Users] mailman to inn gateway

2016-05-20 Thread jdd

Hello,

I'm moving a server from openSUSE 13.1 to openSUSE Leap 42.1. Simply
coping the config files do not get the expected result.

It's probably something small, but I can't put my finger on it.

list manager works fine with mailman + postfix.

I use to have a news server (inn) as mail<>gateway and it worked

my last notes said that mailman do all the job and is simple to configure.

http://dodin.info/wiki/pmwiki.php?n=Doc.Mailman#toc13
but now it's chaotic.

for the list "test", it works from list to news, but not the other way round

for the list linux-31, no result for any way

any hint?

thanks

[Mailman-Users] inn gateway

2014-05-05 Thread jdd

Hello,

I have now a running mailman and a running inn news server - only for mailing
lists access (news.culte.org)

I try to setup the gateway.

in mailman, I wrote localhost as news server (the two apps are on the same
machine) and test as test list.

test list works
test newsgroup works

when I send a post to the test list, I see it in the news group

but when I post in the newsgroup, I don't see it in the list! gateway to
mail is ticked in the two lines in the administrative interface

fromusenet log:

s-r:~ # tail /var/lib/mailman/logs/fromusenet
May 05 18:10:02 2014 (12680) test watermark: 31
May 05 18:10:02 2014 (12682) test: [1..0]
May 05 18:10:02 2014 (12682) nothing new for list test
May 05 18:10:02 2014 (12682) test watermark: 31

(there is nothing in the inn logs)

the cron job is active

,5,10,15,20,25,30,35,40,45,50,55 * * * * /usr/bin/python
/usr/lib/mailman/cron/gate_news

any idea? It should be something obvious I miss :-(

[Mailman-Users] moving mailman

2014-04-29 Thread jdd

Hello,

I hate disturbing you :-(, but I can't manage it myself :-(

my original mailman server broke. I had a backup.

I loan a new hosted server, mailman is here:

http://culte.org/mailman/listinfo

the list test should be open.

I followed all the infos to move mailman from here:
http://wiki.list.org/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=4030682, but only mostly,
because the infos are old and my distribution is openSUSE, so some minor
changes (for example wwwrun:mailman as owner)

I try to summarize what I do here:
http://dodin.info/wiki/index.php?n=Doc.Mailman#sDoc.Mailman_9

my problem is that mailman seems to work, I can create a mailing list, see the
old archives, but I can't have any mail received by mailman...

I receive the message if I try to subscribe a list, then nothing - I receive
the confirmation message, but no acknowledgement. looks like the mail do not
reach mailman.

I openned the firewall for smtp, used genaliases..

what can I do?
thanks

Look at the logs from your mail server. Does it receive the message? If
so, what does it do with it?

well, I did it, finally.

mailman was not guilty :-)

it was postfix. some options (interfaces, for example) are not reset by

[Mailman-Users] remainder post bounce

2012-07-02 Thread jdd
I have a curious situation. I could fix it, so there is no hurry to
find a better solution, but I wonder where I failed :-).

I have a domain name (culte.org) that hold a mailman mailing lists server.

Under this domain, there is a (virtual) network. The real server is
savage-reborn.culte.org

When mailman send the messages to the lists, no problem at all, the
return path is list-name@culte.org

but when mailman send the monthly reminder, the return path is
listname@savage-reborn.culte.org.

some recipients do not like to have the extra savage-reborn part and
refuse the mail.

I don't know where I could change this without disturbing the server's
working.

The MTA is postfix.

I could solve the problem adding savage-reborn in culte.org zone
definitions.

any idea?

thanks

[Mailman-Users] inn gateway

2012-03-31 Thread jdd

Hello :-)

I'm a happy mailman user :-). I have only a small problem I don't know
how to fix.

I use a mailman-inn gateway. The two software are on the same server.

when somebody write on the newsgroup, the post is sent to the list as
well.

If somebody try to answer _from the list_, the to field of the
answer have _two_ values, one for the mailing list, the other for the
newsgroup. This second one is unusefull and thunderbird do not like it
and one have to remoive it by hand to send the answer.

below the headers of a mail read on the mailing list and send from the
newsgroup.

is there something I can do to remove the Newsgroups: linux-31 in
excess?

thanks

thanks to your answers, but none give result. I was even obliged to
revert to a previous (virtualbox) snapshot because after reboot I
couldn't configure the network :-)

that said, trying as many things, I finally got a cleaner mailman
folder. Clean logs, shunts, helds...

Now, sending a couple of mails to a list (archives here
http://culte.org/pipermail/linux-31/2012-February/thread.html), still
not sent to the list members, I only find in ~mailman/qfiles files in
retry, *including the test files* (with lot of spam)

these files are binary, but with many human readable parts. The one
corresponding to the problematic mail keep changing name (looks like
mailman try to send it and fails each time)

I can understand the content but it's only 2.8k, so I join it to this

A Mailman install/upgrade should never replace an existing mm_cfg.py as
that is where you put your site customization of Mailman's defaults
and you wouldn't want an upgrade to overwrite your site settings.

it was a first time install. I beg I got a look to the file before

[Mailman-Users] No mail going out to lists members

2012-02-20 Thread jdd

Hello,

This is my first mail to this list, fogive me if i miss some
netiquette :-(

I have the problem in subject (No mail going out to lists members) on
a new mailman install, using openSUSE 12.1 server

mailman receives mails and archive them:

http://culte.org/pipermail/linux-31/2012-February/thread.html

I scanned all the instructions in the page

http://wiki.list.org/display/DOC/4.78+Troubleshooting-+No+mail+going+out+to+lists+members

without finding any problem, but I may have misunderstood some part of
it as this did not fix my problems.

I documented my work here (sorry, in french)
http://dodin.org/wordpress/?p=13

last thing I did is scan the mailman log messages.

In openSUSE, mailman is spread between ~mailman in the usual
/var/lib/mailman place and /usrLib/mailman. MTA postfix (perfectly
running, I can send a mail from the mailman account)

I blanked out the log files (renaming the log folder, creating a new
one and using check_perm to fix the permissions)

I send a message to the linux-31 mailing list, I got this error message:

Feb 20 10:27:58 2012 (10832) Uncaught runner exception: Use of the
Sendmail.py delivery module is highly discouraged

1329730077.990159+731f2f19a770d9f674f4bc34e0d3328b894fc605

grunner logs say:
Feb 20 10:26:13 2012 (10832) OutgoingRunner qrunner started.

NOTICE:
I tried to paste the mailman aliases in /etc/alias, because this
looked like an alias problem.

doing so I got an answer from mailman saying

linux...@culte.org: Command died with status 2:
/usr/lib/mailman/mail/mailman post linux-31. Command output:
Failure to

exec script. WANTED gid 67, GOT gid 65533.

so I reverted to the dual alias system where I have already
mailman:root
mailman-owner: mailman

any idea?

thanks
