Morning All,

Is there a way to export the Membership List of a mailing list?

Thanks

Yes, I did that once when I first start the migration but I must have
made some inadvertent changes at some point. I ran it again and it
worked. Thanks.

Have you tried running:

for the list to see if that fixes the issue?

More than one? When you change a member from digest to non-digest, that
member generally receives one last digest because she hasn't received
those posts accumulated for the digest at the time of the change.

In the worst case, you will change the member from non-digest to digest
and back; the member will receive one last digest and complain; you
will again switch her from non-digest to digest and back; she will
again receive one last digest; ...

If digest is unchecked in Membership Management... --> Membership List
the member is not receiving digests except possibly for one last
digest as above. You can also follow the link from Membership
Management... --> Membership List to the member's options page, but it
will show the same setting.

You can also do

  bin/dumpdb lists/LISTNAME/config.pck | grep -A5 one_last_digest

to see at least some of the members who are going to receive one last
digest.

[Mailman-Users] Membership List Won't Reset to Non-Digest

2009-09-07 Thread Todd Wheeler
New to mailman and testing features for a client. One member address is
getting digests yet the setting in the Membership List administrative
web page does not have digests or plain checked.

I have checked digests/plain on, submitted, then cleared them off and
submitted. The member address is still getting digest messages.

Where might I look to determine why the settings are not getting set to
non-digest? I have access on the server to the root files, but not sure
where to start looking.

Any help, direction, or guidance would be appreciated.

Regards,
-Todd

Or you could go to

which will give you the 'show hidden members' changes too.

The privacy option is restricted to list members but you're saying having
password in subject line should allow viewing of the list..correct? If so,

The roster (via web or email 'who' command) is available to Anyone,
List members or List admin only depending on the setting of Privacy
Options...->Subscription rules->private_roster.

It seems that your lists are set up with the roster restricted to
members. If that is the case, the simple format of the email 'who'
command is

  who

If you are the list admin and not also a list member, you can supply
the list admin or moderator password, and in Mailman 2.1.10, this will
have the additional benefit of showing hidden members.

Also see

for a different aspect of this subject.

Note that the email 'who' command has different syntax depending on the
setting of private_roster. If you send a 'help' command to a list's
-request address, you will get a description of the various requests
with the appropriate syntax for that list.

[Mailman-Users] Membership List Retrieval Issue - Permissions

2007-09-23 Thread Brian Luria
I am the creator and administrator of all lists I've set up on a mailman
install and my email is listed under general options of list administrator
When I send a -request message with who in subject line, I get a bounce that
I dont have permission to get list of members.
This only happens with lists that I am NOT subscribed to, otherwise no
problem.

I assume there is a setting somewhere I'm missing? I'd rather not have to
join each list

Thanks (Mark :>) ) in advance.

There is no web-accessible way to change that setting. In your case,
you have a few choices:

1. Get your hosting company to change it for you.

2. Decide to live with it.

3. Decide to switch hosting companies.

I don't see any other obvious alternatives.

I have a list with 47 members so it wouldnt be that big.
It seems like there's a setting where if the list is up to a certain number

You can send a 'who' command to the listname-request address or view
the roster (via the listinfo page or directly at something like
http://www.example.com/mailman/roster/listname). The problem is
neither of these shows 'hidden' members anthough the roster indicates
how many there are.

If you have access to the command line interface, you can use
bin/list_members to get the list and/or you can use bin/withlist to
set the lists admin_member_chunksize attribute to a number larger than
the list's total membership and then the Membership
Management...->Membership List will be all on one page.

If you don't have access to the command line, you can script the web
interface to automate retrieving the member list. See

If you have shell access on the server, running the
~mailman/bin/list_members script (with the name of the list as the
argument) is the best way.

An alternative is to script the web interface as suggested by the
example at:

You might be able to mail the 'who' command to your 'listname'-request
address, but depending on your subscriber configuration, this may not
return the complete list.

Not to be obtuse, but maybe you should use the command line and the
Mailman tool: list_members.

Also, You can configure your lists to show more than the standard 30
members per web page (in the membership management area of the
web-admin). Change the value in ~mailman/Mailman/Defaults.py by copying
it to mm_cfg.py and then changing it to whatever you like. I normally
set it to:
  DEFAULT_ADMIN_MEMBER_CHUNKSIZE = 100

Good luck. I hope you find what your looking for.

BTW: the Web-admin help has a really nice section on regular expressions
as used by Python - very illuminating.

[Mailman-Users] Membership List - Listing All

2003-09-04 Thread Kenneth Jacker
(Mailman-2.1b3+)

I must be really stupid! Though I've used regexprs for years, I can't
seem to create one that will show *all* members. I thought that ".*"
would work, but it doesn't.

Why do I need to use this in the "Find Member" entry box?

For some reason, sometimes I go to the membership page and see only
one member. Why I don't know (I haven't explicitly requested a
sub-set). So, I'm trying to get the entire list displayed again.

I searched the WWW, but I didn't find :-(

Thanks for any help,

Re: [Mailman-Users] Membership list

2003-03-31 Thread rdzek
On my system it is:

/usr/local/mailman/bin/list_members

You could simply cron a job that does that for you to a file and put the
file someplace where it can be downloaded.

/usr/local/mailman/bin/list_members listname > filename.txt

You can also allow list members to view the list members if you want.

Sorry to answer my own post, but I found the answer. I thought the
problem came with 2.1, so I didn't search the older archives. I fixed
it by setting admin_member_chunksize using config_list (withlist
intimidated me).

[Mailman-Users] Membership list display in 2.1

2003-01-20 Thread John Swartzentruber
In 2.0, the entire membership list was displayed. In 2.1, it looks like
it will only show the list for each letter of the alphabet. For
example, my one list has 42 members and it is difficult to see more
than one or two members at a time now.

I looked at Defaults.py and saw DEFAULT_ADMIN_MEMBER_CHUNKSIZE, which
seems to be the value that I would want to change. I added this line to
my mm_cfg.py file:

DEFAULT_ADMIN_MEMBER_CHUNKSIZE = 70

but it doesn't seem to make any difference. I restarted by mailman and
httpd, to no effect. Is there any way to view all of these members at
the same time again? Am I using the right option, but failing to
restart something to have it take affect? Other changes to mm_cfg.py
seemed to happen as soon as I reloaded the page or logged in again.

~/lists//config.db. Its not particularly human readable.

Please see the FAQ:

   http://www.python.org/cgi-bin/faqw-mm.py

and:

  ~/bin/list_members

For some details on how this could be done.

DUH Silly me! I was looking for a complex solution when, all the time, a simple

Thanks, Bob! I'm sure I can cobble-up something using list_members in a cron job.

[Mailman-Users] Membership List

2002-07-06 Thread Chris O'Neill

Can someone please tell me the location of the file(s) containing the
list of members to the mailing list(s), and whether this file is human
readable? I'd like to use this file to:

1. create a back-up in another location, in case the system crashes
2. e-mail the list of members to the list-owner(s) once in awhile (via
cron) so that they can keep a back-up on their system as well, if they
wish

I've hunted high and low, and can't seem to find the file containing the
membership list. Must be getting old, I guess. :-) Any and all help
would be appreciated, including suggestions on how to accomplish the
above if there's another way.

Thanks!

Regards,

Chris
