[Mailman-Users] Welcome messages

2006-07-24 Thread Anne Ramey
Question about welcome message options. If I have my welcome message
option under General Options turned off, it doesn't send out welcome
messages. Period. Even if I say to do so on the mass subscription
page. I thought the individual subscription options would override what
you have under general options, not the other way around. Is it
supposed to work like this or do I have a problem? I'm using mailman
2.1.8 on RHEL 4

It's supposed to send the welcome if you check the box regardless of
the list setting, but there is a bug. In this case, the mass subscribe
process calls the SendSubscribeAck method in Deliverer.py to send the
welcome, but SendSubscribeAck erroneously checks the list setting and
doesn't send the welcome if the list setting is Off.

This check needs to be removed from SendSubscribeAck. I'll fix it for
the next release.

[Mailman-Users] Welcome messages

2004-10-06 Thread Carl Fairweather
Hello there,

I am using your Mailmain service as a newsletter/announcement facility. I
have checked the FAQ page
http://www.python.org/cgi-bin/faqw-mm.py?req=showfile=faq03.011.htp which
talks about customising the welcome messages txt page so that subscribers
don¹t get informed of posting and password information. It explains I need
to create a directory lists/yourlist/en and copy
templates/subscribeack.txt to it. I am using Mailman online so would like to
know how do I get access to the directories, for creating and editing. I am
slightly confused by the FAQ explanation.

Also, is there a file I can edit for the subscription confirmation email?

Hope you can help.

Regards, Carl

You need command line (i.e. shell) access or possibly FTP access to the
machine on which Mailman is installed with sufficient permissions to
create the required files and probably change their owner and group.
If you don't have this or know what it means, you have to talk to the
people responsible for installing/maintaining your Mailman.

Also, is there a file I can edit for the subscription confirmation email?

It is analagous to the subscribeack.txt template - its name is
verify.txt.

Re: [Mailman-Users] Welcome messages - subject html

Hi!

Hi, where is the subject in welcome messages?

In the localization catalogs. Have a look at

$MAILMAN_HOME/messages/two-letter lanuguage code/LC_MESSAGES/mailman.po

After modifiying that, run msgfmt -o mailman.mo mailman.po in the
directory, where the modified mailman.po file resides in.

I've personalized welcome messages for each list(creating a LANG
directory into every LIST directory and having there my personal
templates). But I can't find where is the subject for welcome
 messages, could anyone help me?

Don't if you also can adjust the locale messages on a per list
base. Would be fine to know for me, too.

Kind regards, Axel Beckert

[Mailman-Users] Welcome messages

2001-01-22 Thread Cordell H. Thomas

Hi,

I am admin for a set of small lists between 20 and 300 members. As I
tried to improve the welcome message it became too long and I wondered if
there was a way that there could be several automated messages that would
go out at day 1 day 3 and day 5 for example. Is this possible?
