Are you sure you mean the message view? I would think that a checkbox
"only unread" in the list view would serve the discussed purpose.

Sorry, Yes - I meant message *list* view :)

thanks for spotting that.

I believe I understand the request. Individual mailboxes allow
conditions to be specified and you might get something like you request
if this was easily toggled on/off, but if I understand correctly then
this wouldn't be sufficient since you need this to work on any mailbox
(which would be cumbersome to setup).

I guess you need some kind of temporary filtering easily toggled on/off.
You might even need it on a per mailbox basis although it seems your use
case could also be a global filter. It's not straightforward how that
should/could work, but I'll keep it in mind.

Yeah, completely understood... I am lucky then to be able to create virtual
mailboxes including other virtual mailboxes so I do not have to "go through"
more than a few... Three in fact... When I read and deal with mail. The rest
(including what you talk about -- find what I discussed with a person) I do via
search.

But I do, let me say that explicitly, understand your situation.

Re: [MlMt] A "Show only unread" toggle

2016-08-03 Thread Max Rydahl Andersen
Let me give an example of where having double defined folders feels at
least to me cumbersome.

Two of my smart folders are VIP's and My directs which list various people
outside and inside my org that I like to make sure I at least are aware of
what topics they are discussing currently and react if need be. Each folder
has automatic sub mailboxes per person.

In most reading mail cases only unread is relevant but once I see a pos
that are interesting I often want to remind myself what other topics I've
discussed with this person. The fastest way for that is to have the mailbox
include read mails too. This is much much faster than replicating the
search in this folder - hence why I suggest having s way to toggle show
all/unread to quickly filter/unfilter without breaking the flow of what
next/previous mail shortcut will go to.

Hope that explains it better.

Or even groups of important mailboxes, i.e. multiple mailboxes grouped as one
virtual one.

See for a description of my workflow
that almost entirely is built using virtual mailboxes.

It would be nice but for important mailboxes I just set up smart
submailboxes that show only the unread messages.

Hi,

Would it not be great to have a "Show Unread/All" toggle for mailmate
in the toolbar or command available ?

I initially only showed unread in my filters, but overtime I learned
that I often look around for the unread
mails too when going deeper - thus my filters have unread in them too
since searching is too slow most of the time in comparison.

But that leaves me with some mailboxes where there are several mails
between the unread and often I would just like
to see the unread. Clicking "Sort by unread" messes up all
threading/visual cues so that is not an option.

WDYT about adding a toggle button for show All/Unread so one don't
have to miss out :)
