Though we tested NeXT machines for a while I can honestly say I never used the mail software. (I have a publishing background.) Having said that, and having come from Mail.app, here are just a few of the many things I love about MailMate and those you should look into a little deeper: - Markdown. Purists will vow that we should send our emails in plain text, but there are times when it just helps to have rich formatting and for that, I love the speed Markdown affords me; - Speed, I find MailMate to be leaps and bounds faster than Mail.app; - Power and flexibility - I can define a barrage of custom keyboard shortcuts that allow me to cull through my email very quickly. (A single keyboard shortcut can perform an array of mundane tasks); - Command bundles - granted that this isn't for everybody, but they're super useful and powerful. - Smart signatures; - Delayed send; - Tagging. There is so much more, believe me, but these are just a few things I enjoy and would immediately miss were I to move to another email client now. This maybe a cheeky answer, but its really true. [My favorite actual feature is to be able to sort incoming messages on the basis on messages in existing mailboxes. This saves me lots of time in creating address groups. For example, the first time I receive an email from a member of group X, I file it manually in a mailbox X. I set up rules so that if an incoming email is from a sender in mailbox X, the message automatically goes in there, gets tagged, flagged, etc., however I would like. No need to maintain complex rules that cite actual addresses]. I apologize if this inquiry is out of the scope of this list Background: I have used used Apple Mail (currently handling 6 imap accounts) pretty much for it's whole existence. I have two gmail accounts, two mail accounts on my web host, and two mail accounts at Fastmail. I have a few other accounts that simply forward to one of those six. Situation: I'm evaluating MailMate before I purchase. I work from home (ebooks, websites, etc) and I receive and send lot's of email. Best feature for me in Mail is "Rules" which I use to move mail into sub-folders. This is normally based on "sender". I keep mail for long periods of time. I currently have about 10k messages that are "active" (not archived.) I frequently have to search for emails based upon words found within the body. TWO QUESTIONS: 1,) If you used Apple Mail in the past, what is the best feature in MailMate that shines above Apple Mail? 2.) What do you consider the best overall feature of MailMate?
