I've been trying to contact them ever since, but they've been silent. I am humbly asking for help. We're an email groups service, like Google Groups. Based on evidence provided by Spamhaus, it appears that some groups that migrated from Yahoo Groups when Y! Groups shut down contained some Spamhaus spamtrap addresses. On Spamhaus' suggestion, I built a reverification system late last year and tested it on a small group of users. Yesterday, I kicked off a reverification to a much larger segment of users. I then told Linode, our hosting provider, about it, and asked them to contact Spamhaus, as directed by their SBL listing. Linode did that, but has not heard back. I also tried contacting Spamhaus this morning, but haven't heard back yet. I am wondering what else I need to do.Given my experience with spamhaus this week, I’m convinced that they are out to put the small email provider out of business. —Curtis___

Re: [mailop] Proofpoint Contact

2023-10-10 Thread Curtis Maurand via mailop
I tried every few days for a couple of weeks from the link you provided
and never heard a word from them and the ip is still listed. Our client
changed their practices to double opt-in, added highly visible and
functional opt-out links, fired the person who was responsible for
screwing things up in the first place and moved to a third party list
provider (such as mailchimp. I'm not exactly sure who their using) that
pays folks like spamhaus and proofpoint and moved the mail domain to a
clean ip address.  They also set up a new email domain on a clean ip
address to handle replies only.

I went to the second one.  We are blacklisted on 3. 2 I can't do
anything about (spamrats - not exactly trustworthy and they have the
entire /24 blocked and they wouldn't listen to our provider.) and
another called spfbl.net which I'm working on the delisting. proofpoint
has us blocked, but they don't report to either mxtoolbox or the valli.org

That can't be right.  I literally contacted them a few days ago and
had a successful response (unlisting) within minutes during US
business hours.

Go here, put in your IP address, and they give you an opportunity to
input a text description about the issue.

https://ipcheck.proofpoint.com/

Note, they may not contact you, they did not contact me, but they did
read what I wrote to them and they removed their listing of my IP address.

I would add as a further point, it's up to you to make certain that
your IP is clean before you ask them to unblock it.

Put your IP(s) in https://multirbl.valli.org/ and see what lots of
folks think about it.

In the past, I've found them to be totally unresponsive and gave up on them.

Cheers,

@John thank you for your input, but I wonder ; If I leave the Unbound
default configuration, won't it will use my local resolv.conf file to
access the DNS servers? Or does Unbound uses a specific set of DNS servers
instead of using the ones recommended by the OS?

Unbound is a DNS cache. It queries the authoritative servers for the
zones its client ask about to get the answers which it sends along to
its clients.

Correction: Unbound is a DNS resolver, not a cache

Re: [mailop] Google G.Suite Mail admin [SOLVED]

2020-07-30 Thread Curtis Maurand via mailop
Thank you.  I have solved the trouble.  I run a infinitesimal hosting
and development business with my brother.  We are working in Plesk.  We
were not disabling mail services for domains we are hosting, but not
hosting email.  I figured the problem was us when I had the same problem
with the exactly the same error whether the domain email was on
office365 or g.suite.  With email service enabled for that type of
domain, the Plesk controlled system figured the email as internal and
didn't try to send it anywhere, but tried to deliver locally to a
non-existent mailbox and bounce the message just exactly as it should
have.  email to g.suite addresses that were not hosted by us went right
through. That was the aha moment. disabled mail services on domains
where email was hosted elsewhere. Made that the default on a hosting
template and we're good.

This was operator error and growth pains.

If you have access to both sides then open a support request with
Google at the G-Suite end - the quality of paid support is really
pretty good. Alternatively, you can post more details here and
somebody might be able to provide assistance.
