Absolutely. In fact, not only do we encourage (strongly) our email reputation/deliverability customers to segregate their transactional email out from their marketing/bulk email, but we actually have a special code in our zones to designate "this IP address sends only transactional emails" so that receivers and spam filters can take note of that (in fact I believe we still have a special rule in Spam Assassin for this very thing and reason). It's great to see mailbox providers openly sharing information and willing to help senders out. Kent McGovern On Thu, Jun 9, 2016 at 12:03 PM, Laura Atkinswrote: > Thirding this. I very much appreciate you, Michael, taking part in the discussions on this list and giving us some hints on what the issues are. Microsoft could (unfortunately) easily ignore every inquiry from small mail providers and it won't affect them, so... thanks for not ignoring ;-) My hint to german law wasn't meant to offend anyone and of course this doesn't apply for every other country - i just wanted to provide information on the local situation. The intention of this part of the law is to ensure people can trust communication providers like snail mail and e-mail. Of course, some exceptions (like discarding virusses) are allowed, although many still inform the recipient that a mail has been discarded or quarantined because of a detected virus. If the traffic is Transactional, by all means open a ticket and push it. It is always the best plan to keep Transactional traffic strictly separate from all other traffic, and if there are issues, point the nature of said traffic out in follow-up emails, as once validated, it will factor in the mitigation decision. It's a hard sell because your users blame me when they don't get a receipt, they don't blame you. If you could publish some sort of a "Yes, we drop your mail and won't tell the sender or recipient why" article, it would give senders a chance to point receivers toward it so that receivers could understand that the fault really is on their side of the line.
