RE: MI Callback to Mapbasic from DLL - is it possible?

2000-01-10 Thread Alan Hale

Thanks for this code - yes, it was very helpful in understanding how to work this. One
point - as it stands the example never calls the custom Endhandler routine (there is
no code in the Mapbasic RemoteMsghandler to deal with a return value of 'closed'. I
dealt with this simply by 'if commandinfo(CMD_INFO_MSG) = "Closed" then End Program'.

I appreciate your assistance.

Maybe the following could be of interest; this illustrates a modeless form
which communicates with MapBasic via OLE automation; most of the code for
handling the modeless form was borrowed from the MapInfo FTP site
(contribution from Robert Edwards,
The MapTools Company); the OLE part is unpublished.
Code is Delphi and was tested with Delphi 3. The MapBasic code is provided
as well.
Hope this helps.

MI patch55026.exe do not support CMYK.tif

2000-01-10 Thread rl

Hello listers

Before adding patch55026.exe to MapInfo 5.5, be sure that most of your images
are RGB and not CMYK. After running the patch, it is impossible to load
workspaces that calls in tif-images in CMYK.
The raster engine does not recognise the file-format!

Well patch to patch needed

MI Files on Most Recently Used-list

2000-01-10 Thread Andreas Mahn

Hi there everybody,

here are two questions for any serious MB-hacker:

1.) My MB application opens a workspace, which causes MapInfo to include the
workspace file on the Most Recently Used (MRU) list in the File menu.
Additionally, this filename is used as the default workspace filename the
next time the user wants to save a workspace.
Is there a way to suppress this, as I don't want the user to see the
filename or overwrite this file? (I basically don't want the user to take
notice of this file.)

2.) The Pack Table command, used in a MapBasic application writes out a
number of commands to the MapBasic window. I wonder why it does that, as
other commands in MB code don't give away that they have been used.
Again, the question is, is there a way to get around that (apart from
closing the MapBasic window)?

Any hints are welcome

Cheers,
Andreas

Did you read the comments in the text file regarding rasters?

"Patch Installer Isssues

If you rename a raster handler the patch will not be able to update that
file. Please revert the raster handler file to its orginial name and rerun
the patch. Please note that if you install the Oracle8i Spatial Object
Support For MapInfo from the original 5.5 CD after you install the patch,
you will have to rerun the patch. "

This may have something to do with the problem.

Andreas,
Your server kept returning my mail so here it comes through the list.

1.) My MB application opens a workspace, which causes MapInfo to include the

Additionally, this filename is used as the default workspace filename the

You could try saving your workspace into temporary location for example using path
from TempFileName$ function. Runing workspace from temp location and deleting it
afterwards. Then trying to run the deleted workspace and handling error with OnError
routine. I assume the workspace name will be removed from MRU list.

2.) The Pack Table command, used in a MapBasic application writes out a
number of commands to the MapBasic window. I wonder why it does that, as
other commands in MB code don't give away that they have been used.
Again, the question is, is there a way to get around that (apart from
closing the MapBasic window)?

Have tried does Run Command "Pack Table " have same effect?
How about Run Menu Command ID... ?

Anssi

MI VM: edit Z of individual pixels?

2000-01-10 Thread Phillips, Andrew

I've a series of DEMs (USGS origin) that need some editing. How can the Z
value of a particular pixel be changed? My goal is to smooth obviously
incorrect values with their neighboring values. Here's what I have been
able to do (using VM2.1.1/MI5.5, no MB yet):

1. Successfully selected out-of-range values and reassigned them to null by
using Grid Query. That's an improvement, but doesn't seem to be a route to
assigning a (realistic)value to each particular pixel.

2. Captured values of selected pixels to the VMCapture table. These values
can clearly be edited and the table saved, but how can they be incorporated
back into the grid? Documentation is sparse.

2a. In one test I selected a small region (~12 pixels) around the target
pixels, assigned realistic-if-arbitrary values to the targets, saved the
table, created points from the table, and interpolated those in VM.
Attempts to union this patch with the original grid have so far been
unsuccessful. Seems like there ought to be a better way, anyway.

Your suggestions for further experiments greatly appreciated!

Drew

MI Changing styles of labels throughout my layers...

2000-01-10 Thread Mapinfo User

How do I change the style of a label throughout my layers?
For instance, I have all of the cities in red, but i might want them all in
black.
How do I change styles all at once as opposed to one county at a time?

MI Selecting Deleting Text from a Layout

2000-01-10 Thread Scott Barling

Thank you all for your invaluable help,

Below is the extract of code which achieves the solution to my problem.

My original question was:

I would like to know how to delete a text object from a layout if it has a
certain value.

Text = "Akolele"
LayoutTab = WindowInfo(FrontWindow(), Win_info_table)

Select * from LayoutTab where Str$(Obj) = "Text"
Select * From Selection Where Str$(ObjectInfo(obj,OBJ_INFO_TEXTSTRING))=
Text
If SelectionInfo(SEL_INFO_NROWS) Then
Delete From Selection
End if

Text is a String Variable
LayoutTab is also a String and contains the name of the underlying table
used for the Layout.

Your help has been great and I thank you again.

MI Detecting Intersecting Objects

2000-01-10 Thread Stephen R. Riese

Greetings,
I have an intersting problem. I get different results from the following:

A. If object_1 Intersects object_2 Then...

and

B. poly_line = IntersectNodes(object_1, object_2, INCL_ALL)

Statement A evaluates TRUE (which is correct) but startement B *sometimes*
returns an empty object. If displayed graphically, there is clearly an
overlap.

Is there a reason that the two intersection procedures would detect
differently? More specifically, is there some trick to using the
IntersectNodes function?

and

Is there another way to determine the point(s) of intersection (other than
IntersectNodes, that is)?

Thanks,
Steve Riese

2000-01-10 Thread Stefan Majtan

Hi Steve

you can try this

Include "MapBasic.def"

Dim num_row, num_obj As Integer
Dim Table_Name, RunStr As String

Table_Name = "Any String"
num_row = TableInfo(Table_Name, TAB_INFO_NROWS)
RunStr = "Select * From "  Table_Name  " where obj into tmpObj"
Run Command RunStr
num_obj = TableInfo("tmpObj", TAB_INFO_NROWS)
Close Table tmpObj
Run Menu Command 304
