MI hidden field mapinfo_id

2000-07-07 Thread Bob . Mijwaard

Dear Listers,

When saving a tab file as a access table the field mapinfo_id appears in the
access table. This means that mapinfo uses this table for internal
procedures, but is not visible in the browser. I would like to use this
field to update a column. Is this possible anyway.

At the moment I use the following workaround:
Save the table as a access table
Copy the mapinfo_id column to another new column
Import the access table in mapinfo again.

There should be an easier way to perform this

TIA

MI Geomorph conversion program needed

2000-06-20 Thread Bob . Mijwaard

WOLTERS-NOORDHOFF ATLASPRODUCTIONS

Dear Lister,

A couple of month ago I have downloaded an evaluation version of the program
Geomorph. This program converts various GIS-formats to each other. I needed
the software for conversion form MapInfo (MID/MIF) to BNA (Atlas GIS). Now I
need a commercial version of the program (evaluation expired) the program is
not longer available on the market.

Is there anyone who knows this program and does have a copy of the program
for me.

Kind regards

MI: CMYK colours in Mapinfo

2000-03-29 Thread Bob . Mijwaard

Dear Listers

I would like to use a CMYK palette in Mapinfo instead of a RGB or HSV
palette.
Is there any Mapbasic program or something else available?

MI: selection Into and Noselect

2000-03-22 Thread Bob . Mijwaard

Dear Listers,

I am trying to write a Mapbasic script to combine two (or more) polygons
together. The user selects the first polygon and the polygon to be combined
with is selected using the statement below. Because I need to do a
combination, both selections have to be in the same result table. The Into
and clause with noselect can be used I understood from the manuals, but why
does it not work the way I have written this script.

Can anyone give me a hint ??

select * from tab_filename where obj intersects (select obj from
SelectionInfo(sel_info_selname)) and grid_code = gridcode Into
SelectionInfo(sel_info_selname) Noselect

MI RE: DGN file

2000-02-07 Thread Bob . Mijwaard

Mike,

Microstation (Bentley) uses the DGN format. Microstation is a CAD program
with GIS functionality. MapInfo is able to im- and export DGN using the
Universal Translator

MI RE: Overlappign Text

2000-02-02 Thread Bob . Mijwaard

Erin,

There is at least one program able to replace text avoiding overlaps. It is
called Maplex and ESRI UK sells it. It is a quite expensive program,
something like $20.000 or even more.

See below fro some information form www.esri.com: <http://www.esri.com:>

Maplex currently reads data from a wide variety of file formats including
ESRI shapefile format, Laser-Scan Internal Feature format, Ordnance Survey
National Transfer format, Ordnance Survey User Transfer format, MAPDATA
format, Maplex Features and Labels format, and Maplex Placed Labels format.
Create fully symbolized cartographic products on your computer screen, and
then output hard copy to standard printing devices using Maplex. Maplex
produces a variety of output files including Adobe Illustrator, Macromedia
FreeHand, Adobe PostScript, ArcInfo annotation subclasses, Laser-Scan
Internal Feature format, MicroStation Design files, MAPDATA format, and
Maplex Placed Labels format.
Maplex works well with your existing systems. Many cartographers already use
ESRI's ArcInfo professional GIS software. Text in an ArcInfo database can be
automatically placed using the Maplex rule base and subsequently rewritten
to a new annotation subclass. This export feature solves the perennial
problem of capturing type in a database and moving it around.
Availability
Maplex Version 3.3 is scheduled to be available during the second quarter of
1999. Maplex Version 3.2 is currently available for Windows NT 4.0 or
greater on a Pentium PC; 64 MB RAM is recommended. For more information or
to order Maplex, visit www.esri.com/maplex <http://www.esri.com/maplex> ,
contact your regional office , or call
1-800-447-9778. Outside the United States, please contact ESRI (UK) (tel.:
44-1-923-210450, fax: 44-1-923-210739) or visit ESRI (UK)'s Web site at
www.esriuk.com <http://www.esriuk.com> or contact your local ESRI
distributor <http://gis.esri.com/intldist/contactint.cfm> .

Kind regards,

I've seen several questions on the list concerning
Overlapping Text. If
anyone knows of a program that you can run that will move
text for you,
please let me know. I don't want to turn off the
overlapping text box in
the map layer control because I do want all the text, I just
don't want it
to overwrite. I will summarize and share any responses.

RE: MI e00 -> MI

1999-12-09 Thread Bob . Mijwaard

Hi Matt

MapInfo pro comes with ARC Link which converts E00 files into TAB format and
the other way round.
You need to use a custom install when installing MI Pro and select the
ARCLink - it is not installed as part of the normal installation setup.
