is there anybody out there who knows something about a official

Check out the drivers version. If they are all the same, try to use a
newer/other one

AW: MI Mapinfo to Smallworld conversion?

2000-09-13 Thread Günther, Stefan

Hi Rajeev and Flavio,

there is a kind of "Dogfood" to solve your MI2SW-problem, maybe a bit easier
to use as FME .

Take a look at Sofions MI-Import (using MIF-Files as source) -->
http://www.sofion.de/flyer/mapinfo.pdf. Just configure mappings into your
target dataset by using a GUI ;-) and it would be "click and go".
There are possibilities to manipulate data by pre-/postprocessing per
"sourceclass" (using MAGIK).

Other Im/Ex-Tools from Smallworld (Partners) are available for
SQD,ARCShape,EDBS,DXF,MStation

AW: MI limit on file size

2000-09-11 Thread Günther, Stefan

Win95/98 limits file size at FAT16 on 2Gb. Using NT's NTFS it will be 16 GB
!

I believe there is an inherent file size limit of 2 Gb. One of our
customers reported problems when a .map file reached this size. Once upon a
time (and when the format of the MapInfo table files was designed), Windows
had this as a disk partition size limit, so no file could exceed it. The
.id file serves as a link between the .dat and the .map files and I suspect
the size of the pointer fields is limited to point to a maximum value of 2
Gb.

Anybody from MapInfo development care to confirm this?
