MI Printer memory
This is not strictly a MapInfo question but perhaps someone can help. I have a HP1050C printer which has 32Mb memory which has been adequate for most of the maps that have been printed. There have been occasions where difficulties have arisen when printing detailed A1 or A0 size maps (with raster backgrounds). I understand that the printer can be upgraded to resolve the problems by either adding more memory or by adding a hard disk drive (or both). The question is, which would be most cost effective? What benefits does the hard disk option give over the additional memory option? Any help would be appreciated. RE: MI Irish Street data
Another alternative source to OS for irish data is a company called Iris. The contact there is Neil Barry, he can be emailed on [EMAIL PROTECTED] or phoned on 00353 1662 5737. Alternatively you can look at their web site: http://www.iris-gis.com I've spoken to people with a range of experiences regarding data from OS Ireland so it may be worth giving Neil a try. I was wondering If anyone has come across a good source for street data in Ireland. We need street data for five cities (Sligo, Monaghan, Navan, Rocrea, and Tralee). Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide. MI colour/greyscale raster
Hi I am using the UK Ordnance Survey 1:50,000 raster mapping (tif format) with their Boundary Line product. The tif map tiles are in colour which is great for when I want to view an area. However I am mainly interested in the boundaries (from Boundary Line) and just need the raster mapping for reference. For printing purposes I change the raster image to greyscale and change the contrast and brightness to about 70% using the Adjust Image Style option in Mapinfo. This produces the output that I want but unfortunately it appears to make this change to the raster map rather than in the MapInfo table or the Workspace. This causes problems as the next time I open the raster map it may not be in the format that I require. The only solution I have come up with is to copy the raster tiles (84 of them!) and rename them, then I will have to rename the relevant MapInfo registration tables (and edit them to point to the correct raster file). I can then use both sets of raster maps within MapInfo switching them off and on as required. Before I go ahead I would like to ask list members if they have found an easier way?
