Dryden technologies sell a Software package called MarketDrive, built by
MapInfo in Australia. It allows market catchment analysis and routing. There
is also no need to build networks for the software as this is done for all
of Australia. There is no reason why data couldn't be put into the system
for other countries if the data existed in a good format. For Australia it
is basically install, run, point and click and it will return either
boundaries or routes based upon your settings. don't hesitate to ask for

I had a look at this product, and am about to look at DrivePlan as well.
RWNet looks quite impressive. I am presently doing vehicle tracking, but
would like to add this kind of capability to my system.
What I don't yet know is what form I need to collect data in to make it
useful for either of these products. As we are in Asia, there isn't much in
the way of information on roads, so we have been driving around with GPS
units in vehicles, logging the data then "joining the dots" to make roads.
Obviously there is more to it than that. Do we need to collect other
attributes? I can imagine that road type, speed limit, road names, etc,
etc, might be useful, or maybe even necessary.
Is there some sort of generic list of data that needs to be collected in
order to make it useful for drivetime analysis? I'm also unsure of what
format it should be put into MapInfo (to keep it on topic). I could sign up
for either of these packages straight away, but would rather collect
enough data first in a format that would work generically with any
drivetime analysis package so I could do some sort of comparison using
our own data.
Anyone working in this field know of resources where I could find more
info? Any mailing lists on the subject?
