RE: MI - MapXtreme Java 3 and RedHat v6.2
Thanks but I think that RH6.2 includes support for TTF files within its font server (xfs), which supersedes xfstt. This whole thing is getting me mad: I am able to see the fonts in xfontsel (after ttmkfdir -c -o and a little tweaking, and mkfontdir) but no result in MXJ. Under Win NT, all is OK. Pierre, To fix your true type font problems, use xfstt. install this and read the docs on how to add the true type fonts onto your X font path. Look for a package for RedHat 6.2 that will install xfstt. Hope this helps. Best Regards, Randy Randy A. MI MapXtreme Java 3.0 - cannot add a JDBC layer with Oracle 8i
The following is probably of little concern for most of us as it does not deal with MI but with MapXtreme Java 3.0. Hope someone can help me anyway. Hereby my problem: Having lat/lon data in an Oracle table, I want to add a layer of symbols (and create a MDF with the Map Definition Manager). But with no success. The database is running on the same machine as the web server (Apache+Tomcat); Oracle is 8.1.6. I am able to run SQLPLUS. I am able to connect to the database and select from the table using JDBC. I am able to define a connection in the Connction Manager (test is successfull). All attempts to get the layer shown in the Map Definition Manager fail. The classes12_01.zip file has been added to the 2 lax files (after lax.jar for lax.class.path). The file has also been added to Tomcat (classpath in tomcat.sh). Here is how I proceed: - Add a layer, Any with X/Y column data - class is oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver - URL is jdbc:oracle:thin:@host:1521:global - user is system and password is manager - table is named aaa and was created as follows: create table aaa (ID integer PRIMARY KEY, X float, Y float); insert into aaa values (1,10,10); insert into aaa values (2,20,30); commit - settings: lat/lon, columns are X and Y, don't render Results are (console stderr): - when accessing locally: com.mapinfo.mapj.MissingPrimaryKeyException: Unable to identify default primary key for table: aaa. MI MapXtreme Java - Raster Images
The information I have seen about MapXtreme Java indicates that TAB files for raster images can be opened, along with GeoTIFF images. I am using the Map Definition Manager to add them but have tried unsuccessfully to get results when opening a TAB file that refers to a registered TIFF. The TAB files will open but no image seems to be displayed. Has anybody else been able to open images in MapXtreme Java ? Is there something that I am foolishly missing ? I do not have any GeoTIFF images that I can test, so if anyone can point me in the direction of something I could use to test that as well I would much appreciate it. RE: MI MapXtreme Java - Thematic Mapping
Hi Gary, Thanks, I found the solution using the method you outlined below plus... USING MAPINFO TABLES I calculated the number of individual column values using the HISTOGRAM class and then read those values into a Vector. FYI for everyone out there: The column you wish to Thematically Map in MAPINFO tables need to be INDEXED! Otherwise it was the same as below. Re: MI MapXtreme Java - Thematic Mapping
We have experienced this problems... And didn't find a solution. For this reason, we construct an individual value thematic by ourself. We scan the attributes and construct an IDSelectionTheme by assigning an override feature for each feature, and finally save this theme.. But for version 2 im not sure, that was not possible in version 1 but with the version 2 we didn't see exactly if it's now possible... regards ___ ||//Antoine Gilbert || // [EMAIL PROTECTED] || //#ICQ 9737371 || \\ || \\Le Groupe KOREM Inc. ||\\ http://www.korem.com ___ - Original Message - From: Crompton, Mark <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Tuesday, March 14, 2000 2:21 PM Subject: MI MapXtreme Java - Thematic Mapping >Hi All, > >I know that there are not many MapXtreme experts out there, but if anyone >can help I would appreciate it. Step 2: For each record in the recordset, create a recordset for all records in your table that have the same value of your column. Create a new IDSelectionTheme object for all of the features in this recordset. Here's some sample code that I've just been working on. It connects to an Oracle database to get the data (it's using point data): private void applyIndividualRenditions(Layer layer, String table, String column, String whereColumn, String whereValue) { try { DriverManager.registerDriver(new oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver()); conn = DriverManager.getConnection( "jdbc:oracle:thin:@charon:1521:ORCL1","SYSTEM","manager"); Statement statement = conn.createStatement(); //get all of the individual values from the table ResultSet rs = statement.executeQuery( "select " + column + " from " + table + " where " + whereColumn + "='" + whereValue + "' " + " group by " + column); //loop through each individual value while(rs.next()) { //create the theme using the value from the recordset as the name IDSelectionTheme theme = new IDSelectionTheme(rs.getString(column)); PrimaryKey pkey; //get all features that have the current value for the column FeatureSet feats = layer.searchByAttribute(null, column, new Attribute(rs.getString(column)), null); Feature f = feats.getNextFeature(); //create a random color for the symbol Rendition rend = new Rendition(); int r, g, b; r = (int)(Math.random() * 255); g = (int)(Math.random() * 255); b = (int)(Math.random() * 255); Color c = new Color(r, g, b); rend.setValue(rend.SYMBOL_COLOR, c); //add each feature in the featureset to the theme while(f != null) { pkey = f.getPrimaryKey(); theme.add(pkey, rend); f = feats.getNextFeature(); } layer.getThemeList().add(theme); } rs.close(); } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } "Crompton, Mark" wrote: > Hi All, > > I know that there are not many MapXtreme experts out there, but if anyone > can help I would appreciate it. MI MapXtreme Java - Thematic Mapping
Hi All, I know that there are not many MapXtreme experts out there, but if anyone can help I would appreciate it. So far I have worked through all the examples, and can Thematically Map my own data. BUT... I can only Map BY RANGE. Is it possible using MapXtreme Java V2 to map by individual values, or set the ranges manually? The CreateRangedTheme method only appears to allow 3 different variations (EQUAL_RANGE, EQUAL_NUM and STANDARD_DEV). Reading the documentation (what little is provided) there appears a way to use the BIN methods to change ranges, BUT HOW??? Any help would be appreciated, Thanks Mark Crompton -- To unsubscribe from this list, send e-mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and put "unsubscribe MAPINFO-L" in the message body, or contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
MI MapXtreme Java - Bounds Clause...
Is anyone aware of a quick and easy way around the absence of a getBounds() method for the layer class in the MapJ object? Any suggestions are surely welcome!
