MI-L Fonts in MapInfo ProViewer

2004-04-26 Thread christian . cattaneo
Dear All

I'm using a True Type Font in MI 7.0, which we use on five other PCs too.
Now, we want to install the ProViewer on the other machines at the office.
My question is: Do we have to install that True Type Font now on every PC
and can the ProViewer read it?

I would be appreciated to receive any answer.

With kind kind regards

RE: MI-L label box greyed out after labels trsfd to text

2004-04-26 Thread Woody Woodruff
If you are looking at a tables browser, these are records that have been
deleted, no getting them back, unless they are in an archived copy.

I transferred a layer's labels to text, but many were missing. How do I get
the original layer to let me back in to the greyed-out label box? I don't
see anything in the .wor file. Closing the label.tab doesn't work.

MI-L Proviewer 7.5 ?

2004-04-26 Thread Mats Elfström

Hi All!

We are on the brink of the beta cycle for version 8 an there still is no
Pro Viewer for MI Pro 7.5?
Which means that I need to manually edit the header of each wor file to be
used in PV 7, and weed out certain commands not available in PV 7, a
regular pia that lessens the already limited use that PV offers.

Will there be any Pro Viewer for v7.5, or shall we have to wait for a more
versatile viewer in version 8:s .NET environment?

ESRI, I hesitate to add, are leaps ahead with their map browser products
Arc Reader and Arc Explorer.
(Yes yes I know, sorry for that four letter word but I had to say it)

MI-L Multiple Views in MapInfo

2004-04-26 Thread Michael Smith
Hi,

In MapInfo 7.5 on Windows 2000, I have my map files on the local drive. I
have admin privileges on the local pc for editing. My coworker has read
only permission to view the map files on his machine through our LAN.

Why when he is not editing (has read only permission) only viewing the map
files do I get error messages saying cannot access file map.ID for writing.
Please be sure file is not open in another application. Once I get these
errors we both have to shut down and restart to correct this.

I know when we were both editing the same map file we had errors but he is
only viewing files and in layer control does not even have the option to
make the files editable. Is there a workaround for this and what are my
options?

Thanks in advance.

Mike

MI-L MapInfo Proviewer and WMS

2004-04-26 Thread Lancashire, Sol

I have been using a Web Map Server (WMS) with mapinfo 7.5

Today I sent a tab file to a user with only proviewer. They can not open
the WMS tab file.

Does anyone know if Mapinfo is developing a new viewer with WMS support?

Does anyone have a mapserver template setup the has the functionality, look
and feel of Mapinfo ProViewer? I would like something that existing users
could easily pick-up.

Hi,

You can use the free PDF printer-driver from www.pdf995.com. It works OK
as far as I have tested it.

Kind regards

MI-L mapbasic Update table with custom function

2004-04-26 Thread Cummings, Mike
I tried to compile this code:

Update stable2 Set MTRS = Left$(bm,1)+Twn+Rge+right$(0+sec,2),
Corner=strpcorner(location)

(Where MTRS, BM, TWN, RGE, SEC, corner Location are fields in stable2
and strpcorner is a custom function)

and I get this error message: Subroute Argument location not defined.

Why doesn't this work? Shouldn't Mapbasic recognize that location is a
field name?

Hi,

CutePDF (http://www.cutepdf.com/) and PDFCreator
(http://sourceforge.net/projects/pdfcreator/) also work well.
PDFCreator uses GhostScript to create PDFs.
Cheers Ian

RE: MI-L mapbasic Update table with custom function

2004-04-26 Thread Jacques Paris
My interpretation is that the expression used to update a column must be
written with the MapBasic vocabulary. I deduce that from the fact that
update as many other functions can be run from the MapBasic window that
does not support any external calls, i.e. calls to custom functions that
are not part of the MB set and must be supplied by the user, and the MB
window does not allow that.
