Ah, yes - in my MI 4.5, that would have to be translated to:

Set Window 1003 Position (0, 0) Height 3 Width 3
Open Window 1003

> In the MB window I'm using

> Print ""

Interesting - I hadn't seen that before. However, I can't get it to work on my
MI 4.5.

The version I gave was needed for an application that I run that has some
really strange
bug where the Message Window is actually open, but is off the screen somewhere
- the
2 commands bring it back on screen & then open it just in case.

Actually, just reading the original posting again, they want the Info Window on
the
screen, not the Message Window... I have never seen the Info Window disappear
off
the screen before, but I guess it could. In that case, replacing 1003 with 1008
above
should work, although the numbers may be different for newer versions of
MapInfo.

To Jocelyn - Doesn't clicking the "i" button then clicking on an object on the
map bring
up the window?

MI-L MapBasic Set Map3D statement

2005-04-08 Thread Brough, Robert
Dear All, I am creating a flythrough using a MapBasic application that
takes its coordinates from a MapInfo table. What I want to be able to do
is to keep the camera horizontal as the application runs (the camera has
a tendency to roll). I have used the roll command through the MapBasic
window to make the view horizontal, however this command alters the
camera position relative to its current roll angle. I haven't been able
to use it programmatically as I don't know the camera's current roll
angle for a given point in the flythrough. Should I use the orientation
command - the MapBasic help files are a little vague on this?

Any help gratefully received.

Many thanks,

MI-L Label Functions - Missing labels in my new label layer

2005-04-08 Thread Taylor, Zara
Hi List,

Can anyone help?

I have a large map of store locations accross the UK, all of which are
labelled with the store name.
The location of the labels has been altered manually for the pupose of
plotting a readable map of store locations.

I want to save the store labels in a layer of their own, and I have used
Tools - Label Functions - Transfer Current Labels to get all the labels
into a new layer.
However, not all labels have been copied accross into this new layer,
only about 75% are in the new table.

Any ideas where I'm going worng, or how to fix this?

Re: MI-L Label Functions - Missing labels in my new label layer

2005-04-08 Thread Taylor, Zara
Hi List,
Thanks for all your speedy responses.
My 'Include Overlapping Labels' was checked on so I know it can't be
that.
Rich Ashton suggested zooming out to include all labels in the map
window, plus ensuring the 'Include hidden labels' option is ticked on.
I did this, and it worked - I got all my labels...but, because I had
zoomed out to get them all on the screen they have come out bigger than
they should be and now all overlap each other. So I tried zooming back
to my original screen size and just checking 'Include hidden labels' on
but that only brings back 75% labels again.
I think Rich is right about having to get all labels on screen before
transferring them, but how can I do this without messing up the size of
the labels?

Hello again,

I have just panned my map a little so it is at the same scale, and done

As far as I can see it seems to have copied almost all of the labels

MI-L Lables

2005-04-08 Thread Ronning, Christine
Hi all,

I have noticed that when you manually select and move a lable it is no
longer turns on or off with the label option in the Layer Control box.
You now have to edit this lable seperately. Even if you have the
editing box selected the label seems to be added to the cosmetic layer.

Can anyone tell me why this is, and how to change a label position
permanently?

I know that when a layer is editable and you select some or all
components of that layer you can permanently change the line, region,
text or symbol style by using the Options menu on the toolbar, so why
not the label position?

Any thoughts would be helpful, thanks!

RE: MI-L Joining point and line data

2005-04-08 Thread Peter Horsbøll Møller
Maybe this select will improve the hit rate - if it is supported by MapInfo ;-)

Select *
From POINTTAB, LINETAB
Where Buffer(POINTTAB.OBJ, 12, 1, "m") Intersects LINETAB.OBJ

What it should do is add a buffer to the points so that the change of the
points intersecting a line is better.

I use a buffer of 1 meter. Maybe you need to make is smaller or bigger
depending on the accuracy of your data

As I said, I haven't tried it myself, so please let me know whether it actually
does work

RE: MI-L MapBasic Geocoding

2005-04-08 Thread Peter Horsbøll Møller
Mike,

You have a variable called "gnWinId" that should hold the ID of the Map.
Appearently you have assigned any value to this variable as it is zero (0).

You need to assigned the ID of the FrontWindow() (if it is a map window) or any
map window. This can be done with this command:

'**Asumming that the active window is a map
gnWinId = FrontWindow()

Subject: MI-L MapBasic Geocoding

Hello Everyone,
I am GIS student working on a custom application. I am trying to automate a
geocoding task in MapBasic v4.5 and continually get the same error. I can't
figure out what the problem is and have tried numerous things. I am hoping
someone can give me a little insight here. My code for the sub is below. The
error I receive is:

invalid window identifier:0, it occurs at the line highlighted below:

Sub GeocodeTest
Dim fx, fy as float

'***
'* Set for finding the address
'***
Find Using BCrds(street)
Find "2419 Marine Drive" Interactive

'**
'* If found, position the map.
'**
If (CommandInfo(CMD_INFO_FIND_RC) >=1) Then
fx = CommandInfo(CMD_INFO_X)
fy = CommandInfo(CMD_INFO_Y)
Set Map Layer retailcomps_GC Editable On
Insert Into retailcomps_GC (obj) Values(CreatePoint(fx,fy))
Set Map
Window gnWinId
--->Center (fx, fy) <--
Zoom 1 Units "mi"
AutoLabel Layer retailcomps_GC
Else
Note "Address not found."
End If
End Sub

I am currently running MapInfo version 7.8. Thanks in advance for any help!

MI-L MapInfo Not Responding

2005-04-08 Thread Ronning, Christine
Hi all,

I've done a match on records by postal code and 30 of the records don't
match up. I tried the following to try and select all records that were
matched in the original table and then use the invert selection tool to
find all those records that didn't match.

Select * From IH_All_Babies Where Study_# In (Select Study_# From
Matched)

However when I try to run the syntax MapInfo goes into Not Responding
mode. I have almost 17,000 records, would too many records be the
problem? If anyone has any ideas that would be great. Thanks,

Christine

2005-04-08 Thread Kaz Becek
Hello MI Professionals,

The scenario:
1. Create a map Long/Lat Timbalai 1948.
2. Add a point: 114.2E, 4.2N
3. Save copy as: Brunei RSO.
This is a line from MI.prj file:
"Brunei RSO", 7, 96, 7, 115.0, 4.0, 53.31582047, 0.99984, 0.0, 0.0
4. Open saved map in a new browser and get the coordinates of the point:
503,112.99E, 463,093.47N.

Independent from MI calculation gives the following results:
503,220.48E, 462,985.52N

The differences are :107.55E, -107.95N.

What is wrong?

Thanks for any help.

Re: MI-L MapInfo Not Responding

2005-04-08 Thread Jbgramm
Christine,
You will probably need to go to the Documents and Settings\Local
Settings\Temp folder for the Owner or whatever the Primary user or
Administrator has
named the folder and delete the .tmp files.
If you have over of any one file type, Windows will balk, and Mapinfo
will crash.
You might want to delete the queries programmatically after the routine is
finished with each query that way you won't accumulate an excess number of
queries (.tmp) files.

Below is some Mapbasic code that is very ugly but might work. and I am sure
there are many other better ways to do this and some of the other listers
will probably give you a better solution, but you can give this a try.

Dim query_count as integer
Query_count = 1

Select * From IH_All_Babies Where Study_# In (Select Study_# From
Matched)

IF SelectionInfo(SEL_INFO_NROWS) > 0
then

'***Insert Your other Code Here, Update fields etc.

Drop table selection
Drop table "Query" + query_count

query_count = query_count + 1
end if

Please be advised that I think this will only work in a Mapbasic program and
not in the Mapbasic window.

But the first thing I would do would be to delete all of the .tmp files.

Regards and I hope this helps,

Jon Gramm
