Dear all

I have a problem with the precision of cocordinates being
retreived. The float values are being rounded off two the 2nd decimal
place. which is creating a problem in my application.

All the float values(not only the coordinates) are being rounded off to
the 2nd decimal place.

How can i get the exact value of the coordinates precise atleast to the
5th decimal place.

please give me a solution.

thanks

RE: MI-L Zoom Layering Objects in a TAB

2005-08-19 Thread Terry McDonnell
Carolyn,

Further to what Greg said, and maybe more appropriately if, by text
objects, you mean labels, there is similarly a "Labels" button for you
to set the same zoom options as "Display", which is more about how the
graphic object is displayed.

Re: MI-L index file

2005-08-19 Thread Uffe Kousgaard

Hello David,

A missing IND file is a problem related to the TAB file itself - not the
workspace. In the TAB header you can see, which fields are supposed to be
indexed. You can just open the TAB file in a text editor and delete the
"index" words.

Kind regards

Hi,

I am carrying out some analyses using the SAS system and then using it to
write a MapInfo workspace file to display mapping information in a standard
and routine way.

Everything works fine except that when I open the workspace in MapInfo I get
a pesky little pop-up which lets me know that the index file (.IND) does not
exist for the data being used.

It's not a big problem as MapInfo carries on and then generates it (the
index file) - however it would be good not to have to clink on the pop-up
button.

Anyone know the structure of the index file (it presumably has the labels)
so that I can write it as well ?

Thanks

Re:: MI-L Convert NGR to Easting and Northing

2005-08-19 Thread Nigel James
Hi Matt

I have written a Mapbasic tool which can do this (Conversion Tools) - it also
converts D:M:S etc to decimal and creates points all in one step.

It can be downloaded form the Map Room website:

http://www.bodley.ox.ac.uk/guides/maps/geo_tools.htm

It is not zipped, so remember to right-click and save it to your MI tools
folder.

regards

Nigel

RE: MI-L Selecting records that fall within a range of values

2005-08-19 Thread Driver, Greg 9434
Not sure if this will work in earlier versions of MI (I use MI v8) but you
could also use the 'between' key word for numeric values:

Select * from YourTable where Date between 1900 and 2000

For date you could try:

Select * from points where date1 between "02/02/05" and "01/08/05"

Alan

Assuming that date is a numeric field, otherwise date fuynctions will need
to be employed:

Select * from YourTable
  where Date > 1900
  and Date < 2000
  into csr20thCent

Browse * from csr20thCent

MI-L SQL Querying

2005-08-19 Thread Andrew Tracey
I have a table with 270+ polygons in it, all polygons are referenced with a
four figure number then two letters. I want to pick out all polygons that have
the same four-figured number and then combine them, is there a way of
automating this process? I know that you can do a SQL select to pick out a four
figured number and then combine the results, but is there anyway of doing this
in one process for all differing four figured numbers?
