MI-L Large Tables

2005-05-23 Thread Ian Tidy
Does or has anyone got around the 2GB file limit problem with MapInfo.

I have several tables that suffer from this problem, and I don't really want
to split them if I can avoid it.

TIA

Cheers Ian

RE: MI-L Large Tables

2005-05-24 Thread Alan Gunn
My machine starts to slow at around 1 gig for a single tab. But I don't
seem to have much of a problem with rasters that are about 4 gigs. It
must not be the same for rasters. The only tip I really have is to store
it on your local drive if at all possible.
HTH.

RE: SUM: MI-L Large Tables

2005-06-12 Thread Ian Tidy
Thanks to those who replied.

The solution to my problem was SpatialWare. The downside to SpatialWare was
the performance in using large live tables (I will go back and look at this
more in when I have more time).

A good explanation of file size and disk volume sizes can be found at
http://www.discinterchange.com/TechTalk_large_files_.html.

The limit is 2GB, either the MAP file or DAT file hit this limit first
(depending on your data).

Thanks Again...

Cheers Ian
