TDF is using a lot of power (server farms or local) to work and improve the software. Maybe TDF is also shipping hardware around to developers. But the LibreOffice users has always to download a complete build of LibreOffice, once a new main or minor version was published (for security or improvement reasons). This consume a lot of resources and had an impact on the environment. Thus there are this first steps of action, which came to my mind: * contract only services, which run on green power (e.g. photovoltaic or wind) * try to calculate the consumption of non-green-power by the contributors to the project and compensate * build incremental updates for LibreOffice * pay attention to the minimal requirements to run LibreOffice on a machine (thus there is not the need to buy regularly new machines for this purpose) Regards, Andreas -- ## Free Software Advocate ## Plone add-on developer ## My blog: http://www.amantke.de/blog -- To unsubscribe e-mail to: marketing+unsubscr...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? https://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: https://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/marketing/ Privacy Policy: https://www.documentfoundation.org/privacy

[libreoffice-marketing] LibreOffice Extensions-Site: Renovation
Hello, first sorry for crossposting, but I want to reach as many project members as possible. The further discussion should take place at the website-list. The LibreOffice extensions website is currently running on Plone with an add-on called Plone Software Center. There were a discussion to renovate the extensions site some weeks ago. I started my work on new content types in the mean time. I created this new types in a new add-on for Plone that is based on Dexterity content types. This types are more future-proof because Dexterity creates smaller files, less overhead and will be the future of Plone. I created the following hierarchical structure of content types (current naming): * ExtCenter * ExtProject * ExtReleasesSection * ExtRelease * Downloadablefile The first four types are of the container class. The general configuration is done in the ExtCenter (e.g. LibreOffice versions, platforms etc.). Independent from the CMS, that we use for the reimplementation/renovation I would like to discuss with you the structure of the new extensions site, the fields that are displayed in the different pages (e.g. a project page, a release page, a downloadable file page) and the information (fields) we would like to fill in the contributors. I published already two screenshots of the new types on my blog (http://amantke.de/blog/2014/02/libreoffice-extensions-repository-draft-of-new-views-part-1/). They are pure Plone default layout. If we choose to go further with Plone a new layout will be added once the content add-on is finished. But I would like to discuss the structure of the new extensions site and the information (fields) - in the edit-form and in the public page of each content type on the website-list. My current work is only a first draft. Re: [libreoffice-marketing] Track-Management-System for LibreOffice Conference(s)
Hi Benjamin, I looked on the site today. It seemed nice but I get the information from there that it works only with Drupal 6 and not the new line Drupal 7. They are searching for sponsors to upgrade. I'm not familiar with Drupal but I know that there are always issues if you had to upgrade to a new version of Drupal (because your current one is not supported with patches/new minor versions anymore). I asked on the website- and on the foundation-mailinglist some time ago for proposals for an evaluation of a conference management system but get no feedback. If you want to evaluate the Drupal conference organizing tool I'm happy with this. I have no experience with Drupal yet and thus I can't work on that topic. We need also someone (or a group) who is volunteering to maintain the Drupal instance. [libreoffice-marketing] Track-Management-System for LibreOffice Conference(s)
Hi all, we will have a LibreOffice conference again this year ;-) I know from our first conference that it was a repetitive manual operation to manage the call for papers and create the conference program. Thus I thought about a Conference Management System (CMS) for the next conference. I've looked around for such a system but I haven't found one that is - in my opinion - adapted to our needs. Thus I started to work on a new add-on for Plone for this purpose (I found a not yet perfect example add-on for that). But I need some feedback about the "objects" that should be available inside the new add-on and the fields this objects should contain. In my opinion we need the following: - program - track - talk - workshop - speaker (presenter) / leader of workshop potentially: - session (an object inside track, thus we could create a time schedule for the track and assign talks later to this sessions) - attendee (they could choose the talks, workshops they want to attend, maybe submit questions to the speaker / leader of workshops before the conference). I need also feedback about the "fields" (content) we need for the several objects, especially talk, workshop, speaker. My take: speaker: name, short bio, bio, picture talk /workshop: title, short abstract, abstract, track (drop down field) Best regards, Andreas -- ## Developer LibreOffice ## Freie Office-Suite für Linux, Mac, Windows ## http://LibreOffice.org ## Support the Document Foundation (http://documentfoundation.org) ## Meine Seite: http://www.amantke.de -- Unsubscribe instructions: E-mail to marketing+h...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/marketing/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted

Hi Svante, thanks for your help with forwarding it to the AOOoI-lists. Because I'm not subscribed to that lists I wonder if I could post to them or need someone to forward it. [libreoffice-marketing] Open Source Directory for Enterprises of the Open Source Business Foundation
Hi, I read an information on the site of heise.de that the Open Source Business Foundation had made a restart of the Open Source Directory for Enterprises. I looked around there and found out that we are listed on this site, but with an older version (3.4.2) and no user votes. You can see our entry here: http://eos.osbf.eu/nc/software-directory/sw/Project/list/ if you type LibreOffice in the search field on that page. If you do so you get also an entry for OpenOffice.org with version 3.3 and 70 user votes. I think we should get in contact with the organisation and update the database. I don't know yet how the user votes on that site works. If it's easy to get an account there and comment/vote, we should do so. Any volunteers for this task? [libreoffice-marketing] List of Events to attend in 2012
Hi all, there is currently a list of events in 2011 on our wiki, where we attended or are going to attend: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Events I think we should create such a list for the next year in the wiki yet, because 2012 is just around the corner. I propose to create a new list for every year and don't overwrite the current one. I think it is also not appropriate to add the events for 2012 at the top or the bottom of the current list. If nobody objects I will start with a new wiki page for the events of 2012. I miss a column for the cfp in the current page and will add that two the new site. Re: [libreoffice-marketing] Extension website - broader publicity wanted
Hi, the repo-website is from my site in good shape for a start now. The content, which will be created on the site, will stand for the future (when I do some minor changes to the site). E.g. I solved an issue with the display of different licenses in the project overview site (will be online this week). We have currently fourteen projects with fifteen releases online, but we need to encourage more people to bring their extension to a wider public. Am Sonntag, 21. [libreoffice-marketing] Support button / artwork for challenge in presentations
Hi, I think it would be a good idea to incorporate a slide with a supporting graphic / button for our challenge (for the foundation capital) into every presentation that we give at a exhibition (etc.) from now on up to the 21. March. For instance I will give a presentation at the Cebit 2011 and I would like to integrate an impressive artwork to support the donation challenge in my presentation. Is there already something that I can use for this (preferable in German)? [libreoffice-marketing] Link to the Resource of current Icon Set
Hi, I want to use in a presentation the current icons, but I can't find the current set on the wiki. Is there an archiv with this icons (preferably in svg file format)? I searched through the wiki but I found only proposals for icons. Re: [libreoffice-marketing] FOSDEM pic/caption - making the rounds on twitter just now
Hi Drew, it seemed so that OOo jumped in very lately. The doesn't make it to the Fosdem-site about stands: http://fosdem.org/2011/stands Although I can only see the back of the supporter of OOo, I think I know him and his wife. I think the text in some shots are too much and too little. Maybe this is due to my old age and my native language. Is there a way to bring the music more into the background (or maybe change it to another one) and get a speaker inside. [libreoffice-marketing] LibreOffice at the OpenRheinRuhr
Hello, at the last weekend a team from LibreOffice, Jacqueline Rahemipour, Thomas Hackert, Simon Wilper and I, attended the OpenRheinRuhr, a local Open Source event in Oberhausen / Ruhrgebiet / Germany. I wrote a blog post about it: http://andreasmaooo.blogger.de/stories/1729815/ It was a well organized event and we got from the visitors only positive feedback about LibreOffice and our way to a foundation. It seemed that we are on the right track ;-) Regards, Andreas -- ## Developer LibreOffice ## Freie Office-Suite für Linux, Mac, Windows ## http://LibreOffice.org ## Support the Document Foundation (http://documentfoundation.org) ## Meine Seite: http://www.amantke.de -- E-mail to marketing+h...@libreoffice.org for instructions on how to unsubscribe List archives are available at http://www.libreoffice.org/lists/marketing/ All messages you send to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted
[libreoffice-marketing] Devroom at Fosdem 2011?
Hi, one of the goals of the documentfoundation is get new developer into the project. The FOSDEM is the biggest or one of the biggest events for Open Source development in Europe. Because the call for devrooms end this week (2010-10-16) we need to make a decision, if someone or a group is willing to organize a devroom at the FOSDEM.
