thanks a lot! So now it is clear for everyone interested that this URL
above is where we can store and share docs and files for the marketing.
You only need to register with the hostmaster@tdf first with your
desired username.

yep!

Well... the thing is that we need to bookmark it one way or another, so
if it can be done in a simpler URL at least to access the repo, let's
do it...

So, what Robinson did with /shared is to create a folder, shared this
writable by everyone who should have access, and I have set up the
redirection.

I now did the same with /marketing and your folder:
https://owncloud.documentfoundation.org/marketing/

Let's see how we can deal with everyone interested asking for
credentials and see how we go from here first. If we need one shared
credential, we'll see that later but thanks for asking!

I've created a shared marketing folder that's public, but I'm confused

The above one sounds quite right. ownCloud per se doesn't provide nicer
means of short URLs, sadly.

Ideally we ought to have something like
http://owncloud.documentfoundation.org/Marketing/index.php but at least
the second URL above is nice enough.

What I can setup is something like
owncloud.documentfoundation.org/shared/ - however, as soon as you click
on one individual folder, the URL becomes ugly again. :)

Re: [libreoffice-marketing] Marketing Workshop Proceedings

Hello,

About the public repository, I created an account following the
instructions on our OwnCloud (the URL is here:
http://owncloud.documentfoundation.org but you need to get an account).

I've created a shared marketing folder that's public, but I'm confused
as to what the actual public URL is:
https://owncloud.documentfoundation.org/public.php?service=files&t=e9d4de8bbcbe251d23e5d2a5472f87c3
(seems public but I have no way to come up with a simpler URL)
or
https://owncloud.documentfoundation.org/index.php/apps/files?dir=//Marketing

Ideally we ought to have something like
http://owncloud.documentfoundation.org/Marketing/index.php but at least
the second URL above is nice enough.

Any clue?

Thanks,

I was at the recent GNU 30th anniversary at MIT in Boston, USA,
organized by the FSF. There was a good long panel discussion about
enhancing the messaging arounf free software advocacy, I thought it
would be useful to share the notes here:
http://etherpad.wikimedia.org/p/MessagingFreeSoftware

Perhaps some of that combined with the work you did during the
conference could inspire some new action items for the marketing team,
I'd like to help with that.

RE: [libreoffice-marketing] Marketing Workshop proceedings

2012-10-21 Thread dhiren jani
Hi,
The blog post is good, and reading the manifesto gives a clear idea of why
geo-specific marketing teams, event based activities and local user/developer
communities are important.
As the song goes, "Que sera, sera", and it is not very important why there are
2 binaries, or why the recent threads do not add significant value to marketing
LO.

Website re-design is a good idea, as long as the community is also promoted
there.

Given that extraneous points may persist on mailing lists, where you cannot
really "lock" or "promote" discussions. would it be possible to start the
forums activity soon? It might be easier to track discussions there.

For. e.g., I am interested in knowing, and possibly contributing, to the plans
on "Certifications" and support/messaging for "Corporate Deployments".

regards
Dhiren
