I think we should mimic those capitalist institutions that have been
successful...like the peculiarly named Fifth Third Bank.

Those who want to build a new international on heritage of the Comintern and
avoid the taint of Trotskyism should call it the Fifth Third International.

This will not only raise wonderfully postmodernist issues as to the nature
of fractionality, but it implies that the Fifth Third International may (or
may not) actually be the Eighth International.

Clearly, the new worldwide wave of socialism will not concern itself
with Trotkyism vs. Stalinism. This obviously presents us with the very
serious question of how to number the new international. Given that we
are now facing socialism in the digital age, I say we make a nod to the
4th International while still proclaiming our intent to move beyond
debates centering on the *old* way of numbering internationals, by
adopting a binary numbering scheme. Long live the 101th International!

Or maybe copy the software industry and have upgrades on our
Internationals 4.1, 4.2 . . .

The words that constantly come out of Chavez's mouth are reflective of a
hollow anti-imperialism and the fact that he and Morales are running
left-nationalist popular fronts. I doubt a union of South American Soviets
were about to pop up before Chavez and co. came around so I'm not
attacking him or the PSUV, but I don't think anyone seriously thinks a new
international can be built around the Bolivarian "Revolution" and the
theoretical ruminations of Castro. This time around it's just a farce.

I never knew of his correspondence and support for Carlos "The Jackal", who
has turned towards Jihadism while in prison and considers Osama Bin-Ladin an
"anti-imperialist revolutionary".

The call for a Fifth International has already been discredited by the fact
that so many revisionists have called for it.

I think we should jump right to the Sixth.

Or maybe we should start putting splits into the realms of fractions. : - )

from a dispatch by Felipe Stuart on the
first extraordinary congress of the PSUV:

>the history of the First, Second, and Third Internationals.

It appears that Chavez is also acquainted with
the Fourth International(s) too or else he would
not have claimed the number five. Are there any
Fifth Internationalists on the list? Does this mean
that all those cool hammer and sickle designs with
the number four are now obsolete? Is Stuart's
later mocking of

"...the self-appointed vanguards and telephone-booth
internationals"

a specific reference to Trotskyism or a more
general attack on the non-Bolivarian left?
