RE: MD: Pioneer in-car MD changer...
==BEGIN QUOTE== I've just installed my new Pioneer P100 changer into my car, connected to my MEH P5000R MD head unit and CDX P5000 CD changer, and I've noticed that when changing MD's ,the current MD continues to play at reduced volume whilst the next disc is selected, and continues to play until either the next disc is playing or the 10 second shock memory is exhausted, rather than cutting off the sound instantaneously, like the CD changer does when changing discs. Anybody else notice this? Is this normal for MD changer operation? ==END QUOTE= Continuing to play out the buffer in a MiniDisc changer may be normal behaviour so it appears that the music is continuing while the discs are changed. The unit would be reading ahead while playing out what is in the buffer. You would be used to the silent gap that you notice when your CD changer switches discs, but due to the anti-shock buffer, the MiniDisc units can read ahead and keep the music going. If I were you, I would try out the "shuffle play" mode and see if the effect is still there with the MiniDisc changer. This could lead to a GOOD THING! Radio-style "back-to-back" shuffle play of multiple home-brew compilation MiniDiscs with this car stacker, if you edit the recordings tightly. Re: MD: Art Bell MiniDisc use on the air
=== = NB: Over 50% of this message is QUOTED, please = = be more selective when quoting text = === There is an option on the 920, at least there was one one my 520, the will automatically put in the 2 seconds you mentioned. I had it turned on and it coused problems with the way I use the machine. So, I went into the setup menu and turned it off. Now there is no gap at all between selections unless you record 2 seconds of silence. Keith Rowland wrote: Hello everyone, I'm webmaster for the Art Bell web page. (www.artbell.com) I've been on this list for about 2 weeks, after I myself purchased a Sony JB920 Deck and have a RZ-MD50 portable on the way. I thought I'd finally chime in, since I could contribute to the initial message about Art Bell. Art uses his Sony MD unit to prerecord and then playback his commercial spots. At each break, he simply sets up the "programmed play" feature to select the spots needed for that half hour. He has all of the commmercial spots needed recorded on one minidisc. Here's one problem that maybe those on the list could help us with. When playing back a "programmed play list" there seems to be a 2 second or so delay between plays of the tracks. This has caused uncounted number of flub-ups of Art jumping in between the playback of spots, thinking the playback is over. Is there a way to keep each of the tracks, tight up against each other, so that when the unit is seeking to the next track for playback, there is NO silence gap? My guess would be to EDIT the ORDER of the tracks, so it's a continuous playback, but the order keeps changing each hour and it's easier at this point to program which one's he needs for each segment. As for the "tunes" he's been playing, he's been recording those Digital Audio channels off of his 4DTV Satellite Receiver, then dubbing the ones he likes onto the MiniDisc. They are not MP3 files, but simply recording off satellite. Most bumper music is played directly from CD, but some of the newer tunes he has been playing recently, and asking people what title and artist of the song is, have been played directly from the minidisc. MD: In car changer, shuffle mode
I've got a Sony MDX-65. It starts the disc change while the end of the current track is playing so that there is no pause in the audio. And at normal level... I'll be installing a 3-unit Unilink switcher and 2 more MDX-65s shortly, so I can let you know about the multi-changer shuffle mode, if there is any interest. - To stop getting this list send a message containing just the word "unsubscribe" to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
RE: MD: Copy-Proof CDs (Long)
From: John Chrapowicki Bottom line; why do I want to buy a disc that won't play on my PC, that won't play on my hi-fi system, that I can't transfer to listen to on my portable minidisc player? Actually, I don't think I have anything that one of these discs will play on. The answer is a no-brainer: NO SALE. While I agree 100%, I certainly will buy a number of them...just so I can return them. *I* know they won't play, but I'll still go through the exercise to make a point. :-) Rick. - [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.alienshore.com/ - To stop getting this list send a message containing just the word "unsubscribe" to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Re: MD: Stereo or Binaural Mic Recommendations Needed
go to www.soundprofessionals.com.they are very high quality I believe you can get a basic set of binaural mics for $69!! Mikey While it's true that Sound Professionals provide a decent mic for the money, I believe the mic you're referring to is an AT853 based capsule from Audiotechnica. And I personally wouldn't want to use the 853 for anything crucial. The AT922 setup they offeer is a much better deal since it's a much better performer. He can also make use of more capsule options, including shotgun capsules. I'm going to buy a set for the shotgun capability (only the shotguns, I've got a much better solution for regular situations). However, what I use to record shows on my DAT is probably the best of the binaurals for the money, I use Oade binaurals which are based on a panasonic capsule and very carefully hand built by the Oade Bros., who've been taping live shows for two decades. You can see them at http://www.oade.com/dat/microphones/micro.html and if you've got questions specific to your situation, you can send an email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] (one of the Principles in the company). Jim's a very honest and approachable guy and will give you very good answers very specifically tailored to your exact circumstances.
