MD: MD advertising

2000-02-11 Thread PrinceGaz

Hi guys,

Although I keep hearing from list members about MD being dead outside
Japan, or at least dead in the States, I saw an advert on mainstream TV
here in Britain this morning (on C4) which suggests its alive and well here.

Okay it wasn't actually advertising MD, but consisted of a guy on a bus
listening to music and subtitles of "Headphones 19.99" along with a
scene showing him with the headphones on, "Minidisc Player 199.95"
but it didn't show the unit, "Music 14.99".

The advert was actually for Mastercard sponsoring the Brit Awards, but
they could easily have said "Discman" or "Portable CD player" instead of
"Minidisc Player" right? I wonder if that means the Brit Awards will be
available on pre-rec MD for about ukp14.99?

Cheers,

I think the Sony DOES have a power saving mode, and it's always on. When I
listen to the motor of mine while it's playing, the motor runs for 10
seconds, then shuts down for 45 seconds. The first 5 seconds, the motor is
speeding up, which implies that it is reading at 11 (55/5) times play speed.

My guess is it is reading as it speeds up too, just not as fast.

I have a p-touch machine, and the smallest font is exactly right size
for labelling the MD spline

I haven't tried labeling the spine yet...too small. I
considered using colored discs to keep track of what
type of music was on the disc, but decided it would be
too cumbersome.

MD: MP3 maker 120 MHz??

2000-02-11 Thread Jill Mallow

Hi guys,

I have a 120 MHz Pentium antique here, I was wondering if there is any program that
will allow me to make MP3's on this?? Most of them seem to want at least a
200MHz... would they work anyway on mine?

Anybody know?

Thanks,

I think that you can get 10 brand name blanks for 2.50 each from Minidisc
Now. But there is not tax (unless you live in Calif.) or shipping charge.
You did not state whether the $24 was the total price or if there was tax or
shipping.

So you will have to do the math. The only thing I know is that they have
name brands. At one point they were giving Sony ES discs!!! for that price.

Delivery tends to be slow though.

MD: Aiwa MD boombox on sale

2000-02-11 Thread Dan Frakes

I was doing some "window" shopping for MD equipment today, and found that
if you're interested in an MD boombox, J and R is having a special on the
Aiwa CSD-MD50 for $199. I think it's normally around $300.
