MD: Weird Things Happening....
Hi! Strange things are afoot with my two Sony decks... I've just finished recording a stack of sound bites on my MZ-R37, and when I took it over to the MD5, it said that the MD was blank... and when I put it back in the R37, all the sound was still there My MD5's hardly been used... this is too weird for me. Any solutions/ideas as to what's happening? Cheers, Stuart - To stop getting this list send a message containing just the word "unsubscribe" to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
MD: new Sony CDR-W33 CD Recorder
Hello all, I've been using Sony's new pro CD recorder, the CDR-W33, for the last few weeks, and it's a pretty sweet deck. Even better news, Sony has authorized us to "give it away free" if you buy their portable DE-456 CD player from us for $544. That's a backwards way of saying, you get both items for a very good price! As a Sony Professional dealer, we have the PRO version of the CDR-W33, which ignores SCMS and records on the cheap "computer" discs. The instructions indicate otherwise, so before you consider buying this model from another dealer, be sure he has the "pro" version! In addition to the features we've come to expect from pro CD recorders (coaxial optical in out, analog RCA in out, records on all CDR and CDRW discs, automatic or manual indexing from MDs or other CDs, "audio-sync" startup, memory buffer for instant start, etc), the Sony offers DSP (digital signal processing), though unfortunately, only from the analog inputs. This feature includes a 3-band parametric digital equalizer, a digital compressor/limiter, and optional Super Bit Mapping (SBM). You can really sweeten the sound of audience recordings with this equalizer! Of course, I was a bit disappointed that these features couldn't be accessed through the digital inputs, but if you're goal is to make changes to the sound anyway, it probably doesn't matter, and you certainly won't lose any sound quality with Sony's excellent 24-bit AD circuitry. This model also includes CD-Text which is a very neat feature for assigning a name to your disc, and to each track. CDRWIN also supports this feature, and I've started writing out discs with the full setlist built right into the disc! In addition to letting you program CD-Text from a jog dial or the remote control, the CDR-W33 allows you to connect a standard PC computer keyboard and type in all your CD-Text information! You can also control the machine's standard functions from the computer keyboard. This unit is a dark grey color and carries the tradition of Sony's excellent design: removable 19" rack mounts, large display and clear buttons, large remote control (wireless or wired operation), 2-minute finalize, jog dial for menu operations, etc. Please email for more information: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Thank you, --Gary P.s. you also get a free car playback kit with your free CD recorder, so you can play your newly minted CDs in your car! - To stop getting this list send a message containing just the word "unsubscribe" to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

By the way, if I am making a recording from the CD to the MD, and listening on headphones, am I listening to the CD playback or what is being recorded on the MD? James __ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! MD: Mystery mini system? Anyone know anything about it?
I've seen a mini system (with integrated minidisc) advertised on intersaver.co.uk which I'm thinking of buying. However, I can't find any information on it anywhere on the internet (its not on minidisc.org and I can't find it thru Google). The model is the SANYO SYS-X5CTM. The intersaver blurb reports that it is identical to the SYS-X5CM, except that it comes with a cassette deck. Personally, I would rather have the latter, as I don't really need a cassette deck, and I assume, minus the cassette deck it is somewhat cheaper. Anyway, Intersaver gives a price of £363. Can anyone tell me anything about either of these products? Sound quality, build quality etc etc. Obviously I would like more details b4 shelling out that much money. Aesthetically, I would also like to know whether the casing is actually metal, or simply plastic with metallic paint (which I think is rather tacky). Cheers Robin. * sherryl [EMAIL PROTECTED] on Mon, 13 Nov 2000 | I don't think that it has anything to do with either's ATRACs. It is | impossible to play a Sharp portable without it influencing the "color" | of the sound because it does not have a separate line out. Well, if you have a true line in on the other end, the impedance is high, which causes the built-in amp to cut out. Then you set the volume to maximum and you have a line out. -- Rat [EMAIL PROTECTED]\ When not in use, Happy Fun Ball should be Minion of Nathan - Nathan says Hi! \ returned to its special container and PGP Key: at a key server near you! \ kept under refrigeration. - To stop getting this list send a message containing just the word "unsubscribe" to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
MD: ATRAC3, MD DATA, MDLP
Now that there's readily available software for encoding music into ATRAC3, has anyone used their MD DATA drive to write an MD DATA disc that's playable in an MDLP player? -- Howard Chu Chief Architect, Symas Corp. The fact that every signal that comes out of a Sharp portable is "processed" rather than "flat" do to the lack of a true line out is the point that I am trying to make.
