RE: MD: JVC MDX3000

2001-07-08 Thread Francis Auquier

Dear James Shawn et al.

Check first whether the new JVC MD/CD car radio is available where you live.
As far as I know, this new unit just replaced the JVC MD-X3000 head unit,
and it seems great. I will check this for myself...

 Any help would me appreciated.

This company sells them on Ebay under the name cgelectronics.
He runs several dutch auctions for them a month. The auctions usually
don't get any bids, so chances are if you bid on one, you'll get it for
that price. I've seen him selling them as low as $299 and as high as
$339 on Ebay. They are $329 on the crazyg website.

They've been discontinued for over a year, so you won't be able to get
brand new ones. The CrazyG ones are supposedly factory refurbished.

I like the MX3000, in fact I like it quite a bit more than the Sony
MDX-C7900 that it replaced. The display on the MX3000 is BRIGHT and
easy to read in the bright sunlight. That was a pleasant surprise, I
was getting used to the much dimmer displays on Sony stereos.

I believe you are talking about the KD-MX2900R. As far as I know, it is
not available in the US market. I don't believe it adds any additional
functionality.

Yes, sorry for not mentioning its name/number. If it does not add
additional functionality, it is at least available (in Europe). The MDX3000
isn't any more.

Actually the KD-MX2900R does seem to add CD-Text support. The MX3000
doesn't support CD-Text in the built-in CD player, only if a changer is
hooked up. I always thought this was rather silly because I know
someone with the KD-SX1000R which uses the same LCD and a very similar
faceplate, yet it supports CD-Text.
It's unfortunate that the MX2900R is not available in the US. I put the
MX3000 in my girlfriend's car, and she would have preferred the 2900R's
silver faceplate over the 3000's faux carbon fiber.

Does anyone know a (reputable) place selling the above
(I think the model # is correct - it's the single DIN
CD/MD head unit). I just bought a 1998 Elantra and my

seems that they don't make the things anymore.

Any help would me appreciated.
